Halloween concert, as told to lb in #adventuresofstnono
[00:34] <@lb> hi Azz, how was the show, if you're really around?
[00:35] <@Azz> I just got home!
[00:35] <@Azz> Purple chose wisely for seated seats, but everyone was encouraged to stand, and we could not be having with that
[00:35] <@Azz> so we had a great view of the asses of those in front of us
[00:36] <@lb> it seemed to be planned to favor the tall and pushy
[00:36] <@Azz> There were no few small children on the slope complaining that they could not see (the slope below the sidewalk)
[00:37] <@Azz> Comparatively few people were on the slope above the sidewalk, and the greatest amount of damage to the grass seemed to be small children ripping out handfuls to throw at each other
[00:37] <@lb> ahh, good that people brought the small children who clearly wanted to see this singer
[00:38] <@Azz> my brother-in-law had transportation difficulties and could not make it, so I gave away Mr. Zune's spare wristband via fun-list
[00:38] <@lb> ahhh
[00:39] <@Azz> Mr. Sub-tle kept the speechifying to a minimum, which was good as the patience of the average tween does not withstand his full complement of bluster
[00:39] <@lb> hehe
[00:40] <@Azz> There was enough room for people to dance if they so wished. The backup dancers taught everybody the dance for the last song during a short intermission.
[00:41] <@Azz> I learned that it is possible for Purple to dance sarcastically, which included his armpits.
[00:42] <@Azz> That guy with the drone was taking video.
[00:42] <@Azz> (not of Purple's sarcastic dancing)
[00:42] <@Azz> Mr. Zune's girlfriend agrees that we should definitely Dinner Some Time again
[00:43] <@Azz> There were inflatable carnival attractions
[00:43] <@lb> hahahahaha
[00:43] <@lb> sorry, delayed reaction regarding Purple's dance
[00:43] <@lb> and yes dinner sometime
[00:44] <@Azz> We mostly could not see the screens from our seated position
[00:46] <@Azz> There was one screen behind the stage which was a backdrop, and two on each side of the stage at the top of the towers
[00:47] <@lb> ahh, so they did raise them
[00:47] <@Azz> the rest of the long sides were covered by giant carnival poster which was partly ironic quaintly dated and slightly offensively quaintly dated
[00:47] <@Azz> resulting in me telling Mr. Zune and Mr. Zune's girlfriend about the time I elbowed myself in the nipple when I was sixteen
[00:47] <@lb> ahh huh
[00:48] <@Azz> because of the strongman who lifted anvils with his breasts
[00:48] <@Azz> (the "because of" there is the poster, not the cause of my self-elbowing)
[00:49] <@Azz> the concert was done in under an hour, followed by more carnival shenanigans
[00:50] <@Azz> all of the foodstuff booths were outside of the concert zone
[00:50] <@lb> wow on many fronts
[00:51] <@Azz> weirdly, this year the only dessert things seemed to be miniature pocket pie things, in contrast to last year where the least desserty thing was possibly the chocolate dipped pretzel rods
[00:51] <@Azz> after the concert was over everyone then jam-packed themselves into the carnival zones
[00:52] <@lb> weird, I guess people enjoy carnival stuff more than I'd guessed
[00:52] <@Azz> I described to my somewhat disappointed brother-in-law that the concert lawn zone seemed "about as" crowded as Folsom Street Fair (he is more introvert than I am)
[00:52] <@Azz> well, that was where the food was
[00:54] <@Azz> and everyone was hungry following the concert as there was some amount of jockeying for good space
[00:55] <@Azz> so while there was enough room for everyone who was allowed onto the lawn for the concert to sit or dance, with some of the zones with bad visibility completely empty, it was more jammed than Folsom when all of those people crowded into the paved space [on the tall side of the hill near those buildings]
[00:56] <@Azz> R was 10 feet away and did not hear us hail her.
[00:56] <@Azz> (although part of that I imagine was her utterly shutting down in the middle of the crowd)
[00:57] <@Azz> My loon costume was well-received, although the most common guess for the ornithologically impaired was "crow"
[01:00] <@Azz> Purple said that I am not allowed to peck him.
[01:04] <@lb> haha
[01:04] <@lb> the post-concert interaction sounds better than all of the official festivity anyway
[01:07] <@Azz> And following all that, Purple took his neighbor on a brief tour of the [quad] highlights; an hour-ish later when I'd wrapped up and was ready to leave, they were still chatting in his office (shockingly with lights on) so we all wound up chatting for a few more hours.
[01:08] <@Azz> They are both on the condo board so there are tales to tell.
[01:12] <@lb> ahh nice
[01:12] <@lb> I think it's time for me to sleep
[01:12] <@Azz> good sleep
[00:35] <@Azz> I just got home!
