Icon: Alaska Nanooks logo, which is a chiaroscuro image of a stalking polar bear (Nanook) in front of a giant blue and gold letter A.

The Nanooks are my home team, and I've been reading a lot more Check Please! which satisfies my need for a sports fandom with lovely queer characters and romance, without the risk of faves who irl turn out to be suuuuuuuuuuuper problematic.

I read Check Please! too. It is charming and sweet and every so often I stop and think, "Wow, I would hate these guys if I knew them in person."

I think Shitty is my secret favorite. He reminds me of Shawn, just a bit...

A lot of the good things about him don't remind me of Shawn. But the megaphone to kick people out his Haus on the morning after the party, that's something Shawn would do (necessary, but perhaps a little gleefully rude), the wacky behavior which could be obnoxious if you weren't friends with him (nudity), a certain amount of relationship-related emotional constipation...
