2018 fortunetelling, sex edition

Via [personal profile] katieastrophe:

Find the nearest book to you, turn to page 45, and read the first sentence: this describes your sex life in 2018.

Mine is Cyteen.

Let her take me into her staff.
In context, this is about a sexually harassing boss attempting to add a pretty young thing to her harem.

Oh, dear.

*snicker* It sounds promising, minus the sexual harassment.

Mine was, in context, a thirteen-year-old's mother checking if she's on drugs or what (the answer is "or what") but out of context just looked like "no, nothing here."

*snorts*

Mine: "And when she just had to wait and let Mark wrestle with Mark." From A Civil Campaign, the she being Kareen, ofc.

Hmmm. I don't know if this is supposed to be me processing my shit or someone else processing theirs, but I suspect the former.
konsectatrix: from the anime soul eater: a school age girl with ponytails holding her boldly patterned scythe. (a scythe is a girl's best friend)

...."Who Killed Who?"

Context: It's an animation art book about Tex Avery (The one not only responsible for the short of the same name above, also responsible for "Red Hot Riding Hood"). I'm genuinely not sure if that helps or makes it worse.
konsectatrix: the pattern of a moth's wing forms the eye in a close up of a skull. (the unbiased eye)

Hah! That would definitely be preferred to actual murder, accidental or otherwise. =D
katarik: DC Comics: Major Slade Wilson and Captain Adeline Kane, text but I can make you better (Default)

"The future of economic planning, I understand." Hm. I have to say, that doesn't match *my* assumptions for how I would enjoy spending my time in 2018...

Terry Pratchett, _Making Money_. I clearly should've been on the other side of the bed, where there's Cat Valente and Seanan McGuire books all in piles.

The nearest book was an edition of the two Eddas, with the Poetic Edda first, with the following stanza from Hávamál on top of page 45 - might be read as encouraging self-pollution?
"Hear thou, Loddfafnir, and heed it well,
learn it, ’twill lend thee strength,
follow it, ’twill further thee:
neither shoemaker be nor shaftmaker, either,
but it be for thyself:
let the shoe be ill shaped or the shaft not true,
and they will wish thee woe."

If prose sentences are called for, the second nearest book is about the various national armies the fought in the Second World War, and the chapter on the Belgian Army gave the following:
"The army corps comprised a staff, two infantry divisions, one corps artillery regiment, and one pioneer regiment."

"Cool."
