The terrible child is very soft

Yellface hid in the basement today, starting around the time I opened the basement door to get some fresh air.

There was a horrible hour in which Belovedest searched for her, inside and out.

I was sitting very quietly on the couch downstairs figuring out what pictures to use when posting an internet people search request, when an inquisitive mew came from a lower shelf and out strolled the terrible child herself.

Cats.

I have also been pricing screen doors.

Currently the time share has been: Yellface upstairs at night so she can sleep on Belovedest, Alex and Thea downstairs at night in the cool. Then switch during the day, more or less. The ladies are pretty good about it until there's a containment breech. The other day Murderface was running laps around the basement while Belovedest attempted to contain her and Yellface crouched under a bar stool.

I'd say "oh Yellface, no" but this actually seems very preferable to if she'd actually gotten out.

Screen doors are excellent for cats. Especially cats who like to climb.

A screen door would be a lovely investment to prevent this from happening again. I even have the proper tools to install it.

I hate that worried, stomach-in-my-shoes feeling of “can’t find her anywhere”. I’m glad she was only in the basement and she eventually let you know.
