Wearing green somewhere?
Props to
lannamichaels for a juicy set of longfic recs, many of which I won't mind reading again. I have jumped straightaway into the unfinished Fullmetal Alchemist x Harry Potter crossover, which is Ed, Roy, Al, and team being called into the Potterverse as a favor to someone's old friend to help with a little terrorist problem. The author admits to knowing little about the Potterverse but that's a strength because it drives Ed's outsider perspective on the disorganized dystopia of the world of Potter. My own knowledge of FMA is brief because my initial attempt at watching was interrupted by a guy with an AK-47, but this is so much fun.
I went out yesterday to get a quarterly blood draw. I was wearing opera gloves the whole time and my veiled sun hat while I was in the lab. There were very few people visible, mostly staff. Driving in a sun hat doesn't seem like a good life choice to me.
Since it was a fasting blood draw, my next stop was a drive-through, which was jammed. As I approached, two maybe late-teenage kids approached the doors. There must have been a sign about the closure, because they swore and declared their intent to go somewhere else.
That made me think about car privilege: no car = no drive-through = no prepared food. At least at Mickey D's. Contrast the taquerias in Phoenix, who tend to have walk-up windows as well as the double drive-through.
Around about the time I got home, Belovedest announced that they (and, presumably, many of their department) were on paid administrative leave for the rest of the month. They did a refuel and grocery run.
We're a little circumspect about fresh produce, see the text post that goes "I don't gamble but I do buy fresh produce while depressed" so we only have 4 cucumbers, one sack of snap peas, and whatever carrots and celery are lurking in the depths of the fridge. I should do some more tender beans, maybe.
I put my outer layer (hoodie and all) in the wash when I got home.
Just as soon as I had gotten into fresh clothes, someone from the water department knocked on the door to see about the sump drain. So I showed him the outlet, then the sump, the pipe that runs up the basement ceiling, across, and out next to the front door. Yellface was disturbed from her nap (I explained that we have to keep the ladies separate) and yelled until the guy let her sniff his fingers.
Belovedest arrived with the groceries. I went to put away some back laundry and try to find the gloves I got when I was having a bad outbreak of not-quite-eczema on the hands. I found one pair. I'm going to have to keep digging.
norabombay is holding up okay.
Belovedest had some candidates for a new webcam pulled up. The current one is the one I'd been using for the stalker camera trap at Virtual Hammer. It's not the best for whole living room games. I narrowed them down and picked one out.
Belovedest stayed up late playing a Kingdom Hearts. I stayed up late reading that FMA x HP fic.
The big cannister of blue Gatorade arrived today. I think everyone has some kind of post-nasal drip of some kind, but that's normal. Since going on the bonus inhaler, I've had a dry throat at night, and that means sore in the morning. Not great when I'm trying to monitor myself for worrying symptoms, but also it's been going on long enough that I'm accustomed to the new normal.
Mama's internet went out yesterday. She traced the problem to a loose cord this morning. The local Friends Meeting has set up a Zoom conference.
This morning Yellface woke us up, and was not particularly understanding about late nights. After feeding her, we went back to bed.
My current lower carbohydrate breakfast (when my brain doesn't rebel) has been cottage cheese and miscellaneous vegetables, usually snap peas and something pickled. Today it was the dregs of the earlier bag of snap peas, some green olives and capers, and the leftover roasted asparagus.
Belovedest has been playing an internet game of Ticket to Ride with the siblings. Later, Pops is planning to call, so I should dig out the multimeter so Belovedest can troubleshoot the second kitchen light.

Apparently I have a prescription ready. I may venture out later.
