So, I've been reading a certain amount of books and fic to keep from excessive doomscrolling, since my brain isn't up to most logistical planning and I would be more liability than help at a demonstration (and I should avoid creating additional casualties because I would likely get very sick if I get any sick).

So I try to keep from having the Concerning Meltdown that I can feel waiting in the wings.

It's like you're staking the chunk of time you spend on reading something on the gamble that it will have been worth the time you spent on it when you've finished reading it.
