It was a day! I was up moderately early, and decided to feed the yell before she insisted that Belovedest get up and attend to her. We had a leisurely morning and a shower and I made more potatoes-and-frozen-vegetables while having first-breakfast of dried nectarine slices (homemade, extremely lovely). Belovedest found bacon in the downstairs freezer. (Which needs to go on the shopping list now, thanks brain for helping!) It was 80 on the porch by noon, but cooler inside for somewhat longer. By 8-ish, the temperatures had switched, and we opened a window to let the house cool down again.

Belovedest had modest plans (laundry) and carried those out. They're not as flattened as Alex and I were (I think Alex got the flattest of all) but they are observing that everything is unexpectedly taking more energy than they thought it would. They have a few days off, so there's no rush for them to be at 100% particularly quickly.

I went downstairs for a while to sort fabric (in addition to keep and toss, I'm sorting it for washing) and it was nice and cool. Things were going well until suddenly a scream -- I had rammed my thumb into an unnoticed pin. Cue the MyChart email to my NP to figure out whether I will have to get a tetanus follow-up.

The fabric has brought a surprising amount of black and royal blue velvets. I'm sorting it into baskets by color family and washability. I hope to get at least two amazing skirts out of it. One is likely going to be white eyelet muslin with a pastel rainbow flounce, if there's enough. The other would be velvet. We'll see what's what once it's all laid out. There's also a decent amount of potential pillow fabric.

The rest of the week is supposed to be not as hot. I'll believe it when it happens.

Cucumber salad is this evening as well. I made some of the miscellaneous ramen that works well cold, and I may dump the rest of it into the main bowl.

The ramen in the cucumber salad was a great idea; next time with slightly less bouillon powder and a little vinegar.

[personal profile] wohali turned us on to an adorable and slightly facepalm show about a faildragon who is house-hunting. Poor faildragon. Game mechanics are in strong evidence -- it's a D&D inspired world, and characters are Extremely 3rd And A Half Wall Aware about their stats and such. We watched the first episode in bed before falling completely over.

I woke up with the sun/cat again, but got the opportunity to sleep in a bit after that.

I woke up again to the spectacle of Belovedest and Alex tidying the dining room corner. I declined to drop everything and pitch in, on account of I hadn't had breakfast yet. (The exercise was specifically because Belovedest was trying to use the microwave and the waffle maker was in the way. Cue one of those ADHD sequences involving five seemingly unrelated activities that are required to be done before the main task can be completed.) In any event there was Tidying, my executive function was borrowed in dealing with the dehydrator, and all was well.

Yesterday and today, the internet has been blipping. "I want my internet to blep, not blip!" quoth the dragon. This afternoon was largely spent on the phone with tech support, trying to capture a ping profile of WTF is actually happening while it's going bad. We were taking notes on what we'd be doing later when SUDDENLY...! I took the keyboard while Belovedest took the phone, and we both had a merry ol' time with the tech. There was incidental geekery as we tried various things. (The sonic screwdriver, initially thought to be out of batteries, had a full charge but did not help.) Two reboots and an unexpectedly long cord later, we are optimistic, and the spider-router is plugged back in. (We had to plug the machine directly into the router to eliminate a particular possible point of failure. The extra cord length is being stored on top of the display case.)

It hit 77F inside today, with the windows open and fans on. That was balmy and pleasant while sitting in the artificial breeze, but doing strenuous activities like tooth-brushing was questionable. (Curse this not-metal body.) "Captain Illyan", the new bedroom IR remote puck, has been ordered, so we can do entertaining semi-automated things with screen and climate control in there. [twitter.com profile] kestrelct had the winning suggestion of "Mr. Alys Vorpatril" if'n we need a downstairs remote.

We hit the store for bacon ends a little before close. The stock levels on some of the products made me do a Concern. But we got our bacon ends and our basil and our sweetened lime juice for cocktails, and came home. The blue-haired clerk and I traded notes.

My wrist brace came in the mail. This one is clunky enough that I will probably reserve it for bedtime and similar occasions.

My NP is out for the week. My tetanus is up to date, her cover says. Yay.
