Just before Belovedest's first alarm there was a large, loud truck of some kind in the neighbors' driveway.

I hope I can get back to sleep soon!

Oh ghod I've heard there's legislation about limiting the use of the goddamned beeping -- like for example in the HUGE new apartment complex across the street ("new," lol, I think it opened in 2017, it's still new to me) the Fed Ex driver will park their truck while BEEPING and then apparently trudge through the giant warren of little apartments for half an hour delivering stuff, while the truck is BEEPING. Did I mention it's BEEPING? And the same thing happens with construction sites. You're not warning anyone! You're just driving us nuts!

....presumably at some point in the far future of the drowned world there'll be a giant mutated bird mournfully going BEEP - BEEP - BEEP - BEEP just before the dawn to keep the tradition going.
