Too many

So my nose has been doing better and better, to the point where the tubes/stents/splints inside (they're the silicone jobbies with the fins and the place to be sewn together at the front) started to be more irritating to the front-inside than they seemed to be doing in keeping the airway clear. Sunday was pretty bad for that, but I managed to Deal With It on Monday, because I was the one going shopping.

(Belovedest, meanwhile, had another flare-up of the chronic thing they've been dealing with, and was not available for shopping.)

So Belovedest calls the nurse line and waits on hold forever. I go out, I do the shop, I run into someone from Tumblr, I come back, they're still in the queue. I unload the car. At this point they've finally gotten through to a telehealth. They let me know that the telehealth would like them to (again) rule out one of the bad options for the cause before concluding that it's a potentially benign cause that can continue with careful management. (Specialist visit, still a month off.) So we bundle up and trundle off to urgent care which is fortunately 24 hours. I tell them that if they keep us until morning, at least my Tuesday appointment is across the street.

I've got a book, at least.

All this is interspersed with pings from a different party who has managed to trip one of my absolute WORDS HAVE MEANINGS YOU MILLENNIAL PUNKS rage filters a little earlier. The waiting gets to me, so we have a quick discussion about some WORD CHOICES. This turns into a phone conversation, in which it becomes apparent that I'm yet again fishmumming the unfishmummable. I basically need to arrange a 100-to-400 level course on layperson understanding of cptsd, no biggie. Because one of the understanding gaps that's causing immediate distress is coming from a person who knows jack about this stuff trying to understand some things.

I cannot actually recommend reading Nona the Ninth for the first time in a fairly empty fluorescent-lit medical waiting area with a conked-out partner and a too-late-at-night time, because damn does that put a pretty heavy spin on things. Especially not with That Fucking Guy fucking up Twitter. What the fuck, John. Go to hell, John. (I finished it this evening, in a much better frame of mind. FRIENDSHIP BRACELETS, GRIDDLE??? And, oh, Paul!!!! Speaking of Doomed Ships that pass in the night.)

So we got home about 2am, I set my alarms, and I dragged myself out of bed and into clothes in about the right amount of time to get myself out of the driveway before the heating and cooling guys showed up to (block the driveway and) examine the mini-splits for their winter service. I arrived downtown amid the construction (again) and read until it was time to go in for my appointment. Read in the waiting room. Waited for my heart rate to go down after accidentally stepping on the foot of the blood pressure machine instead of the place I should have stepped. Read while waiting for the doctor.

Snipping the stitch to get the splints out of my nose was Unpleasant. I am proud to say that I held very still. The things came out, and I'd kept them pretty clean. Now I get to irritgate my nose every night for a month. I was so impressed to be breathing again that I waltzed out of the doctor's office, up the ill-behaved elevator to my car, and was out of the construction zone before I reached for my cup of water because I needed to take the last of the antibiotics and realized I'd left it in the office.

I collected my cup, fought with the elevator to get back to my car, picked up some lunch, and went back home to enjoy the novelty of a nose that you can just think about wanting to breathe and there's air flow.

Now that there are hopefully fewer thing, maybe I'll have more brain??? :D

I am boggled about the going back for the cup. I think I would have lost it about there. Yay for breathing through your nose! And YAY for getting through all of that!

irritgate

Hehe. I'm glad the surgery did what it was supposed to, at least - I've heard of cases where it didn't.

Here's hoping for more brain and less pain.

I'm so glad the new ventilation infrastructure is going well.
