and we're back to nope

I am having what amounts to the same conversation with a succession of health people, and that amounts to:

I am not having a mammogram this year
BECAUSE
I am a stage IV cancer patient
here is the date of my next PET scan
THAT SHOULD BE SUFFICIENT I THINK

I suspect that I will also have this conversation with my insurance fairly soon.

I continue to send you strength and fortitude - as well as admiration for your ability to keep your sense of humor.

But I am stuck trying to figure out what business it is of your insurance whether or not you have a mammogram.

Ah you have one of THOSE insurances. I always just tell them that's their problem, not mine (but I also have - other than the two years I was on Obama Care - been privileged enough to have insurance through work, and without insanely high deductibles).

(I will admit, ever since I started at Major NonProfit and we pay nothing for ANY imaging (including MRI), my great delight was telling the chirpy insurance people - who would call about how much I could save if I would just have the MRI closer to home instead of at the specialty hospital where my provider was located - that a) I want my provider to get my results immediately instead of my having to bring things to them, b) I am a person of size, and I require folks who are skilled in the additional demands that engenders, and c) I pay absolutely nothing for imaging so the only one who would save anything by this is the insurance company. The various splutterings I would get back always gave me great amusement. And then I learned there was a way to opt out of those calls, and promptly did so.)

MyChart nagged me for a couple of years about vaccines that either I was too old for, or weren't in their system because I'd gotten them years or decades earlier, including one that was listed as being overdue since the day I was born.

I just took a look at MyChart, and some of those vaccines are now listed but labeled as "not due," which I think means that the system has no record of my childhood polio vaccine, and for some reason is programmed to flag that for everyone. (Mousing over the question mark on those produces a message saying this item is no longer appropriate for me, and I don't need to worry about it, it's there to give me "a more complete picture of your preventive care items.")

Your doctor should be able to dismiss any alerts in MyChart that aren't applicable to you, although it might depend on their particular MyChart configuration. (My doctor helpfully dismisses my mammogram reminders for me because we have made some very calculated risk assessments due to just how much radiation therapy I've had in the past decade and the fact we know for absolute certain I am BRCA-.)

Huh. I may have to reach out to my provider about that.

It's actually a real question whether a full mastectomy is sufficient to get MyChart to stop nagging one to get a mammogram.

The nopetopus should be the sole response, if only it were possible to deliver it over audio.
