Lounging

I'm not sure if I actually shared the Saga of the Three Infusion Recliners, so: an infusion center was upgrading, and had three chairs that they needed to get rid of. Preferably quickly. Preferably for free. So their admin made a Craigslist post. I managed to fit two into my Toaster simultaneously, then came back for the third once I'd unloaded them at home.

One is out front, and is the perfect spot for Lounging. Which I have been doing a lot of during this whole knee crisis. The position is perfect for not putting stress on my knee in a way that staying in bed isn't.

I now have various Implements (bought, scrounged, repurposed) to make the Lounge go better/more smoothly.

A not-Bogg bag, Large size, to store things near the relevant door. Adorned with a few charms, with a small bag inside that's holding some of the smaller bits, and the phone caddy on the outside is full of takeout napkins. Simple Modern brand, in their 1980s colorway: magenta bag, mint green fasteners, teal handles.

Various things kept in or very near:

Large beach towel.
Capacious elastic towel band, for securing the towel to the chair.
Solar panel that can power my phone, a small fan, and a small battery for Later. It's got grommets and carabiners that are designed to be hung from a hiking backpack so if you can get signal in the wilderness or you had the foresight to have offline amusements, you can mobile to your heart's content as long as there's sun. On a good day it can charge my Pixel 4 up to full and keep it there, as well as topping up the fan and battery.
Small rechargeable fan with bendy legs that can hang from an umbrella
Long charging cords.
Golf umbrella (very sunny days)
Goth umbrella (less sunny days), which was originally for a Dulcie Septimus cosplay; it's white with lace on the outside, but reassuringly black with (I swear I did not overthink this choice) a rosebud print on the inside
Knee cream
Sun cream (the one that [personal profile] kaberett suggested, which is a bit drippy and not a local brand; we'll probably stick with local brands for re-purchase and the Neutrogena face sunscreen is minus whatever ingredient(s) that annoy my face)
"Fishing" sun hat, broad brimmed with a zip-out-able crown, neck shield, and face veil. I keep them fastened on the sun side but loose on the other side. The magenta, navy, and misplaced pale blue ones are a relic of when we thought Covid wasn't airborne and a simple cloth shield between your face and their face would do. The replaced pale blue one has more velcro than snap, alas.
Citronella + associated herbs incense sticks, for bugs
Long lighter, yellow, the last of the first batch to be distributed. Not refillable (alas). (The new batch are refillable.)
Bug spray
Incense holder, lovely but less helpful than it could be, shaped like a lotus blossom.
White scarf, dual purpose: keep sun off skin, cover black clothing for less heat uptake.
Rainbow scarf, head and cleavage cover
UV sensitive lenses in my daily wear glasses
Sprayer top for a standard size Mason jar
Mason jar full of ice and water
Craft project of the moment: currently I am hemming a scrap of silk from a batch I got off Etsy into a handkerchief.
Large can of honey roasted nuts (Costco), mixed with various chocolate and chocolate coated fruit, kept carefully out of direct sunlight
An unearthed tin of Costco Jingle Jangle, likewise
Novelty pineapple shaped plate from the dollar store, not dishwasher approved.
Liter bottle of TJ's berry French lemonade.
(sometimes) rainbow headband of fake flowers for the sun hat, but the size isn't quite right so it's a little obnoxious to juggle
Other objects that may have fallen to the bottom.

Not kept in the bag, but usually present:

A Snack
Iced drink, often fruity, sometimes with fruit onna stick (not sure where the tiny umbrellas went)
Extra cup of ice
40 oz water bottle with handle
Phone, 4x/day pill container, earbuds in case
Turquoise meds container, the one that needs to go everywhere with me
My closest cane
The Big Umbrella (pending a crank repair)

Lounge Wear
This isn't always what I wear, and some of them are reserved for the sunniest days, but it's good to dress for the purpose.

Sun hat, until the sun slips behind the relevant landscaping or I put up an umbrella
"Ice Silk" portable sleeves, either shawl or forearm style
Gloves with just the tips of the index finger and thumb available
Loose, light-colored dress
Light colored toeless compression stockings
Pale pink "gators" (not Crocs, but same dollar store principle)

What happens is I tend to refill my water bottle, prepare snack and drink, then put those out. Those tend to require more dexterity. Then I haul out the bag and unpack what I need. I put the chair in lounge mode. (On bad days sometimes I have a hard time getting out of it, if pain has decided to borrow all my strength.) Often enough I will set an audiobook going while I play clicky-games, or work on whatever craft. Or I'll read an ebook. Or chat with [personal profile] norabombay, since Lounge Time tends to overlap with Phone Time.

Currently my reading lineup is:
Celia Lake's magical romance/mysteries
An audiobook just for myself: Downbelow Station (2/2)
Bird pun humorous mystery series in audiobook (bedtime Please Don't Be Awake All Night distracting noise, rotating through the series about 1.5 times per year): currently on Lord of the Wings
Penric: saving this for with Belovedest
Audiobook of Murder with Peacocks, with [personal profile] alexseanchai so the weird radio noises in my bluetooth-to-car setup aren't as much Nope (first book in the bird pun mystery series)
Something suitably free on my e-reader

Occasionally I will hop inside, to refresh my iced drink and the ice cup, avail myself of the facilities, and maybe re-ice the spray jar.

Eventually, when the black-eyed juncos start trilling continuously, I start thinking about going back in. (Guess who just got the Merlin app specifically to identify the heralds of twilight)

I am working on getting to know the local crows. The other day one sat on the top of the Big Umbrella. I got a selfie. I'd long ago decided on my carefully species neutral greeting to them: "Hello, corvids!" -- there are both crows and ravens in the area, though more crows. Probably some Rrows and Cravens too.
