Hacking

I'm working on hacking myself a Listener. Something that looks around for things that need paying attention to, and reminds me of them so that I'll do them. This could be internal or external. I'm thinking about something with Rioh-ohki ears and not much else to it, ball-shaped, and rather astral.

Hmm...making a construct, or trying to lure something already extant in to help you? 'Cause you could go the Vanyel route and find a way to get the air elementals interested in watching things for you. But then, of course, you have to make sure you remember to tell them to *stop* watching. ;)

Ahem...not that I've ever tried putting them on permanent alert like that. But they do make handy eyes at times, if you manage to get them interested. They're like toddlers with ADHD, though. They'll tell you *everything* you want to know, if you can just get them on the right topic. *giggle*

Probably a construct, as I can leave that on lightly-monitored automatic and maintain it by instinct, rather than accidentally forgetting about a friendly spirit and snubbing it, which I know I will have a way of doing until I figure out the ins and outs of talking to things that aren't quite there.

Though I do plan on befriending a few more dragons...

...and I've already experienced firsthand what happens when you leave a spell on automatic and don't put any limiters on it; that's what made me near-deathly ill twice.
