I dunno why he didn't. Perhaps he felt it was not a winnable battle since presumably he has already asked you not to? Maybe he wanted to be groped? Maybe he didn't parse it as groping?

Actually, groping's never come up on our discussion list of things to or not to do. We've covered excessive hugging (avoid if at all possible), spending every possible moment of time that I can with him at school (don't wait for the teacher to arrive to his class to skedaddle: leave when he asks), and general poking/smacking/pinching (OK when playful; stop if no longer playful). Sparring-type hitting, punching, and kicking are acceptable when playful; kicking the ass is commonplace. We're making our boundaries more clear: I tell him when something upsets me, and he tells me when the level of physical play becomes uncomfortable for him, or if he doesn't feel like playing anymore.

He knows that asking me to not hug him is a losing battle, even though he's not particularly huggy. I'm learning how to respect that he needs time alone at school; he's learning to communicate better.

Ass-gropes just have never been a topic under discussion, somehow. I don't intend to make it a habit after this unless invited, however. Once can be funny. More than once, in a swift succession, could be an uncomfortable situation.

Actually, the topic of my groping his ass hasn't come up yet.

I was leaning on his seat, he sat on my hand, asked me to move my hand, I groped his ass, then took my hand away, we continued talking Diablo 2, it hasn't been discussed since.

Only if one were a woman. Men tend to separate "erotic" things from "romantic" things. Grabbing a butt is seen as playful, not seductive, whereas a head resting on another's shoulder is a blatant sign of affection.
