azurelunatic: Quill writing the partly obscured initials 'AJL' on a paper. (quill)

Oh, and yeah.

Welcome to all the people who have added me in the past bit. I'm rather stunned that approximately 93 people (well, somewhat fewer, as two are novels, at least one is fictional, and three of them are the same person) are reading my journal.

01. your live journal "user name" & what it means:

My name? Azure Lunatic. It came from an online punk band name generator, sometime after 1995, around the time that the dendarii.com LMB list was talking about one particular AI program that they'd been feeding with LMB phrases. I liked it, wrote it down, remembered it, and later used it for a Vampire: the Masquerade character, a Malkavian. She became another one of my personalities, and it was the most distinctive name I'd come up with to use online, so there you have it. Even after we all merged into the one (two) of us you know today, I liked the name still. To date, I believe there is only one other online Azure Lunatic, according to Google.

02. on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest) how well does your livejournal represent who you actually are?

I would rate my personality consistency with true self at nine or ten, but the word choice versus face-to-face or phone, a 7. My writing vocabulary's far more extensive than my speaking vocabulary. I do tend to giggle a lot. On the other hand, my writing's consistent from LJ to IM, unless I'm in a state of shock, in which case I speak in cryptic, clipped sentance fragments.

03. how much about your life do you post to lj?

Good gods, how much do I not post? LJ has nearly supplanted my physical journals; I get enough of my journal fixation filled by posting to LJ that only the thoughts I have in the middle of class or of too much delicacy to even post to private are winding up there. There is no substitute for pen on paper, though, and I really do need to take up writing more often again, not just in stressful moments.

04. is there anything you refuse to post about?

If there is ever anything I absolutely never want to think of again, I will not post about it. However, as I have a terror of forgetting my experiences and forgetting the lessons I've learned and forgetting myself, I am unlikely to not post. It may be a small, cryptic reminder to myself on private, but any time I'm near LJ and have something on my mind, it gets posted.

05. on a scale of 1-10 how interesting do you think your own journal is to others?

I'd guess maybe a 6 or 7, a little more interesting than the average. Not brilliantly interesting, or I'd have been mobbed by now, but interesting enough to attract and keep readers. I'm getting to be a better writer, for which I'm thankful. Practice makes perfect.

06. from who/how did you find out about lj?

I found out about LJ from my best friend Darkside's high school best friend Dennis K., who is no longer an LJ-er, and through [livejournal.com profile] godai, one of the regulars on the F.O.G.Club message boards, back when I was active there. I was hoping to get some, so I joined up. Silly me.

07. has anyone ever joined lj because of you?

Let me see...
[livejournal.com profile] votania
[livejournal.com profile] marxdarx
[livejournal.com profile] digitalambience
[livejournal.com profile] teenagewitch
[livejournal.com profile] ralmathon
[livejournal.com profile] evealone
[livejournal.com profile] aratina
...It's a nice way for my friends to keep in touch with my bizarre life, because I'm becoming far more introverted than I have been in the past. People who don't see me IRL or read my LJ don't really get to hear about what I'm doing.

08. what proportion of your posts are friends only?

That seriously depends on what is going on in my life at the time. I make use of friends filters and private entries quite often; I hide my BDSM stuff behind a filter, and some of my more esoteric witchy stuff behind a filter, and I have private conversations with certain people every now and then. I would say that about 95% of my entries that more than one or two other people than me can see would be open to the public. I only have occasional friends-only entries, more or less depending on whether I'm talking smack about someone, or there's something that I'm not comfortable sharing with the rest of the world. I don't hold with the malicious gossip thing, though, and therefore don't vent about any given person in an entry that they can read. After I've vented, either the problem is resolvable and it's all cool, or there are some serious issues. More often, everything is cool.

I use the private entry feature a lot, to remember cool IM conversations, to vent to myself, to mark my place in a comic series, because I post so often I don't want to clutter up people's pages with my bookmarks.

09. what is your favorite interest on lj

Likely the family of magic-related interests. Really couldn't pin down one specific one.

10. Has anything on lj ever caused you to establish, rethink, or even change your belief or position on something?

Isn't that what LJ is for? I am clarifying my stance on the issues of politics, drugs, abortion, religion, et cetera. Most of those viewpoints, however, I keep to myself.

11. how often do you respond / comment on other peoples journals?

If I'm not completely withdrawn, I'll comment when I have a thought or find something interesting. I leave at least a few comments most days. Some posts seem to have already said most things already, so I'm a little shy of posting a "me too".

12. do you prefer to write in your journal, read other journals?

I like to read other people's journals, but I need to write in my journal, whether it's LJ or an offline journal.

13. have you ever had something mean said to you or been stalked, harassed, or got into an argument/flame war on lj (or did it to someone else)?

There was some LJ drama going on for a while with one particular person that I no longer maintain a friendship with. The less said about that painful IRL situation, the better. Then there was one annoying character, George somebody, making a pain of himself in someone else's journal, and when I sympathized with the person whose journal it was going on it, Georgie-boy decided to leave a few comments in my journal. Then there was the [livejournal.com profile] antisense issue; this cat's M.O. was to pick out sections of journal by other users, and taunt them in his journal. I wasn't exactly happy with this practice, and called him out for the butthead he really was. Needless to say, this was not appreciated, and I got some rather rude IM's from him, which I posted in my journal and made fun of. Goose, gander, yummy sauce. Lately, 'Song has had some drama in her journal, but I somehow managed to get folded into the momentary clash of brat-thwacking that went on. I must say, good way to handle squabbles breaking out on your turf.

14. have you ever banned someone from your journal?

Although some comments have irritated me, I don't think I've ever banned anyone, just turned on IP address logging. Caught the identity of one anonymous snarker that way. Don't think he'll be resorting to that underhanded little trick again, especially with the way I giggled at him afterward. I know one of the LJ chicks accidentally banned someone, which caused a bit of drama....

15. who are your favorite lj friend(s) and why?

Oy, vey. You mean I have to choose? Very well, then. [livejournal.com profile] iroshi, [livejournal.com profile] wiredferret, [livejournal.com profile] gremliness, [livejournal.com profile] boojum, for insightfulness and interesting posts. [livejournal.com profile] lasayla, 'cause she rocks donkey balls. [livejournal.com profile] bibble, for the head trips. [livejournal.com profile] rainstorm13 for sheer balls. [livejournal.com profile] votania, because she's my roommate, in addition to all of the above. I have some very good friends not listed there, of course, but this is my favorites among LJ characters, not other delightful attributes.

16. how many of your LJ friends have you actually met?

Everyone I've seduced into joining. [livejournal.com profile] pop_lock, by any other name. [livejournal.com profile] othercat, at that Winter Solstice party at the Bachelor Apartment from Hell. [livejournal.com profile] pyrogenic, back when he was still a relative innocent, and delightfully charmed by the idea of a cult worshipping him.

17. of all of the people on lj you know of, who is the most like you?

Neep. [livejournal.com profile] votania, [livejournal.com profile] iroshi, [livejournal.com profile] gremliness, [livejournal.com profile] godai. Among those, I couldn't say who.

18. why are you most likely to add someone to your friends list?

Their writing interests me.

19. do you automatically add friends to your journal if they add you first?

I check out their journals first, and see if they interest me. Depending on my mood, if I'm not interested, or deadly bored, or unnerved, or for whatever reason not eager and delighted to see their writing show up on my friends page, I don't add them back. Complete disinterest is the number one reason for people leaving my friends list.

20. what is the most likely reason you wouldn't add someone to your friends list?

If I can't read their writing, or am distracted from reading their writing, by misspellings, errors in grammar, misuse of words, or all those other sins that English teachers have always harped about, then I must have some dreadfully overriding reason to add them. Interesting writing can override proper English, but it has to be damn interesting.

21. is your "significant other" on lj?

As I don't have one, no. And no, Darkside isn't on LJ either. There are currently two people on my friends list that I have had sex with, though. I have had hot IM/phone sex with at least two more, amusingly, both of the same name.

22. have you ever wanted to meet someone on lj?

Definitely. [livejournal.com profile] boojum, [livejournal.com profile] iroshi, [livejournal.com profile] godai, [livejournal.com profile] gremliness, [livejournal.com profile] crisavec, [livejournal.com profile] wiredferret, [livejournal.com profile] silmarian, [livejournal.com profile] lasayla.... among others. That's just off the top of my head, understand. [livejournal.com profile] deeahblita...
