Two apartments ago, living with a friend from college. I inherited the treasure chair. It was one of those old, square sort of chairs, with hard sides and a hard back, and a multitude of cushions to pad them. The inside was hollow, and -every- time we moved that chair (a lot), something new fell out of the inside...cat toys, dog treats, matchbox cars, pens, scraps of paper, coins. It was the source of no end of amusement.
This is a recycle-chair, of an untold number of former owners. Our apartment complex has a well-understood but never official recycling policy: you leave your still-usable unwanted items in the place inside the dumpster enclosure, but outside the dumpster, and people who want them can pick them up.
Dude and I found this brown recliner there. We brought it in, and he, after sitting in it, declared, "This chair is the shit!" Given that we had an impressionable four-year-old around at the time (damn, it's been a while!), we opted for German when officially naming the chair. Dude moved out a year ago; he and his girlfriend/fiancée are expecting a baby pretty darn soon. The chair's still here, though.
Our last apartment was the same way. You would leave furnature next to the dumpster, and two days later, see it on a neighbors porch or in their ilving room. It was a nice system, and I sort of miss it.

I'm thinking that rearranging the living room is now in order. There's probably room for the scheißelounger there now...

Of course you dare!

I'm wondering how much of our current furniture is going to end up out there. My current work-altar is from there, as is my bed...
