Telling someone you have to break up with them, 'cause they just lost their Primary, and you refuse to be put in a position where you might accidentally turn into someone's Primary: you can't stand to be a one-and-only.

Not exactly step on -- I just don't read it as being humor, and instead read it as agreement/sympathy slightly out of sync with my dry humor.

Wow, that's amusingly ironic: during one of my rare moments when I'm not out of sync, I'm perceived as being so. That is just neat. In a twisted, slightly painful, damn-the-universe kind of way. :)
