James Bond I'm not.

*looks inquisitively at martini ingredients on web*
*looks up in top of closet*
*tries three drops of vermouth*

Hmm, not bad. Does sort of make my tongue tingle, though.

*tries two drops of gin*
*mouth goes numb for three minutes*

Yowza.

No, somehow I don't think I'm going to start drinking classic dry martinis with any regularity.

As part of the Rogues & Wenches show, we told limericks to transition between songs. This is one of my favorites:

There once was a man named McSweeny,
who spilled some gin on his weenie.
Well, just to be couth,
he added vermouth.
And slipped his girl a martini.

*grin runaway*

It was a transition between one of our bawdy songs and a sweet, harmonic one. The last limerick that Ben tells is a farcical "sweet" one. We all go, "Awwww, that's so sweet. I feel the need to sing a song that is so sweet it makes your teeth hurt!"

And there you go.

It's nasty stuff. It really is.

[livejournal.com profile] literaltruth once said, upon adding both 'gin and tonic' and 'gin' to his interests list, that gin by itself isn't really an interest, it's a last resort.

Actual traditional martinis smell like Christmas trees. it's rather unappetizing.

The classic dry martini basically gives the upper crust a socially-acceptable way to drink straight gin.

*Flavored* martinis, OTOH, are often quite yummy--and generally not made with gin. Green apple, chocolate, all kinds of good stuff.

But then, we know I have a weakness for frilly girlie drinks! ;-)
