This is at least the third time they've called, after being asked to not call. Told to not call, rather.

You have to say the exact words "take me off your calling list" or they just put refusal and recycle the list in a month or two. If they call back again ask them to fill out a paper request for de-listing form, talk to a supervisor about it, and if they don't send you a copy of it in two weeks, you can sue them. In ohio its 500 dollars for every time they call back after you told them to take you off the list.

I figure if I have the ins, I should share them.

I don't know what it is here in Arizona. I ought to know... and I always honor requests of that nature, dammit!

The thing I found amusing was the broken-record nature of the guy I talked to, the second time they talked to me... I got what they call in my workplace "irate" ... and the poor guy on the other end didn't know how to handle it, just kept broken-recording "Would you like to buy our paper?" at me.

I recall it going something like this:

Hello?

Hello?

Who is this?

This is ... from the Arizona Republic, and --

Take me off your calling list.

Huh?

Never call here again, goddamn it.

Why do you not want us to call you?

Because this is the second time I've told you to take me off your bloody calling list. Take me off your calling list now. I do not ever want to buy your paper.

Would you like to subscribe to the Arizona Republic?

Take me OFF your calling list. Hello? Hello?

Okay, also waaaayyyyy illegal besides simply irritating. You should call the paper and complain, because the MINUTE those words "take me off the list" come out of your mouth they are supposed to apologize, say yes we will and hang up. It sounds like a supervisor or trainer somewhere is not doing their job.

You definitely need to get medieval on these people. They are clearly in violation of the law. And here's proof.
