Travel! San Francisco! Seeing people!

I'm planning to be in San Francisco, in zip code 94044, over the winter break. (I'm staying with Guide Dog Aunt and her family, so raranax is exempt from voting, unless he wants to poke the poll with a stick.) Last confirmed day of work is the 18th. I'm not sure exactly when I'm leaving yet, due to not having bought tickets yet, but I should be getting there sometime either on the 19th or after that. pyrogenic has claim to a slice of time sometime before the 23rd. The 24th through 26th will probably be busy, as there's a road trip and family stuff will probably be happening. I'm not sure, at this point, if I'm going to be there for the New Year or not, because of work and travel and suchlike things.

As things start to fall into place, I'll be working up one of my signature Scheduling Goddess calendars.
(Darkside hasn't responded yet to my ping about claiming holiday time with me. No clue if/when he will.)

I have both a car and a couch in the Mission (94110), and more PTO than I thought, so I could actually take Thursday off if you wanted to make a day of it.

Seriously, I'm quite flabbergasted that I can expect to very likely see you in person again in the near future, and after ten years. You'd think seeing Gella would have prepped me, but (no offense to her, of course) you were a much bigger part of what made such an oh-so-formative experience out of CTY95 for me. Admittedly in an obsessive-compulsive-fangirl sort of way, but still. Reading the book still gives me inordinate warm fuzzies.

Be aware that in general I do have a tendency to go all quiet and stuff when meeting people in person. I'm not sure if that applies to re-meeting or not. I may switch right back on into my usual babblesome self, or I may curl up into a Lunatic-in-hiding-sized ball of very quiet meep for a bit until I get used to you again.

Right now I'd be more inclined to think that I'll go quiet, but I'm not sure if that's just me-right-now or what. I got socked with an alarming insight last night, one that unfortunately ties into the events that I was made aware of this past February. I'm not sure how long this shell-shocked state is going to last, and I'm not sure if I'll be getting new evidence on the thing. I have to do some investigating, and that has the potential to cause me rather a lot of pain.

I am to hope that I'll be normally functioning by the 22nd.

pyrogenic, when I met him, was a Nice Jewish Boy of sixteen at the Center for Talented Youth summer academic camps. He was very influential in my remaining sane through my late teenage years. He has since grown into a lot of things, not the least of which is a talent for doing good things with computers.

I met ataniell93 first on the Bujold mailing list, and while we did not hit it off at first (I was oversensitive and didn't like being in remotely the same area as flamewars; she was much edgier at the time) we were re-introduced via her Harry Potter fanfiction. She is an excellent and witty individual.

Thursday or Friday evenings are possible but my time off is from 12/24-1/1. I won't be working at all during that time.

It looks like I'll be having several days of meeting up with people, at this point. I must see pyrogenic, but I refuse to make it necessary for everyone else to be pinned to his schedule. He and I have ten years to catch up on.

(An introduction I'd really like to make, were we all in one place, would be tygerr and pyrogenic. The sheer Geek and Fashion might drive everyone else from the room, or it might be something to be watched with awe.)

The mental image I'm gathering of the (scattered) responses so far is that I'll be meeting up with 'Shua early in the trip, to spend a day happily catching up on everything, then probably meet up with any interested others in the evening, and then have another day for a longer collective gathering.

I had a good feeling about the bookstore when I saw it on the list, and I'm pleased to hear that it's such a vital part of people's lives...

Right now it looks like I'm going to be having at least two hang-out days: one with 'Shua on the 22nd, and then a happy collision of whoever wants to show up at Borderlands sometime after I get back from Lake Tahoe sometime after the 25th.
