I have survived the morning. Does a series of just fine days interspersed with not fine days still count as under control? I still made it to work.

To paraphrase, any day you can walk away from is a good day.
Or, as an older gentleman at work puts it, any day I wake up and don't find my name in the obituaries is a good day.

As in "need to be carried away from", for reasons involving physical incapacity to walk and getting worse from there.

Any day you make it out of bed, and don't end up taking a rifle to the book depsitory, is on the plus side of the ledger.
