Home again...

Nephew's got pink eye. Oi gods. Votania evidently panicked and went on a cleaning frenzy. Marx is in a general state of amused disgruntlement, or whatever the word is for someone who doesn't think that panic is an appropriate response. He's just had too much experience with kids with it, whereas it's Votania's baby with it, and I'd think less of her as mother were she not reacting.

Hmm. I think the best results we had with pinkeye was rinsing the eyes with aloe vera juice (pure; no additives). And, of course, lots of C and garlic taken internally. (We threw away a lot of prescriptions for antibiotics over the years. :)

Question: why did a cleaning frenzy follow? And what's to panic about an infection in his eye? She doesn't panic every time he gets an infection in his nose, does she?

*shrug* Maybe it's the whole five-kids-been-through-almost-every-childhood-disease-already thing...except that I don't remember panicking the *first* time around, either. Now, when they inhale pumpkin seeds, or fall out of second-story windows, or have a finger almost cut off...then I panic. After it's over, of course. Can't panic when you need to call the paramedics, or take 'em to the hospital, or keep pressure on a finger... ^_^ Sick just doesn't call for panic, sorry. :)

(The finger was caught in a slammed door, by the way, and was on a 3-year-old boy. Was 2/3 severed, went through the bone. They sewed it back together, put it in a splint, and it was good as new in weeks. Can't even see a scar now. Kids are made of rubber, I tell ya!)
