Nephew's got pink eye. Oi gods. Votania evidently panicked and went on a cleaning frenzy. Marx is in a general state of amused disgruntlement, or whatever the word is for someone who doesn't think that panic is an appropriate response. He's just had too much experience with kids with it, whereas it's Votania's baby with it, and I'd think less of her as mother were she not reacting.

Cleaning frenzy: Doc said the magic word "contagious". She hasn't had any experience with the disease other than iirc her sister having it long ago...when she was very young... and he is in deep discomfort: itching and crying hysterically when not allowed to scratch when in the whiny and irrational mindset he gets into when just waking up from a nap.

Of course my saying "She panicked" means "She went into a lot of very swift and competent activity with an edge of maternal concern thick enough to cut through you" ... because that's how her panic-reaction manifests.

Furthermore as she does work in a food-handling situation her gettng pink eye would be a Very Bad Thing.

She's a lot calmer now after having researched.
