OMG, the quilt is done and it is BADASS.

Mama sent me a photo of the quilt.

The bookshelf is at the center, with a whole lot of books I read while growing up. The stars around it represent interests of mine (such as the soccer ball), or little pieces of the past. It looks like Mama has a piece of the blackberry dress, and the fishtank-gravel pants, and the Frog Skirt, and all sorts of butterflies, and that gorgeous fabric from that dress from the 6th grade... this is wonderful.

The photo is a bit fuzzy, but I'm sure I'll recognize a lot more once I get to see it in person.

We picked out star fabric together a while ago. Most of the stars seem to be made out of those fabrics, with the center square being something sentimental.

Part of it is cleaning up: I have no particular need for a dozen little-girl dresses, and some of them are really too beat-up to pass along. I'll have the memories in the fabric in the quilt, as they should be.

This is the same thing that has me scanning little scraps of paper with sketches and event paperwork. I have no need for the actual paper. I want the memories.

It is! I was obsessed with tiger swallowtail butterflies, too. There are some really gorgeous ones on there.
