It just seems OBVIOUS that not everybody you know belongs in one big pile: there are members of my extremely Catholic family and members of my boyfriend's extremely Pagan family who would quite probably shed blood if they met each other. (Heck, the last time both my grandfathers were in the same house, they threatened to kill one another.) The Circles option shows they're at least aware that different people need different filters, but I don't see the need to presuppose that anyone using something besides their legal name on the Internet is up to no good. (Don't even get me started on the loaded term that is "real name.")

Yes, the point of using a pseud is so that not everyone can find me. I don't see why that's automatically a bad thing.
