2012, (some of) the notable bits

[personal profile] zarhooie is my fishwife, for better or for worse. :D

I closed my LJ and turned off the comments so I wouldn't get spammed to hell and back, and for closure. (It's not deleted, because a permanent account is useful, and I comment over there, but I don't see updating it in a form that's not edits to past entries or maybe an updated closure notice.) My sidebar poem is now "The Question Song".

I got a lovely, beautiful, occasionally hair-tearing job, which is the best job I've ever had. My contract is extended! Happiness!

I learned how to shoot a gun this year. Despite being raised in Alaska with guns (carefully locked up) in the house, I never did get that experience (possibly because of my phobia of them at the time). This year, I fought another fear by learning to use a gun, though I predict that my sessions at the range will be scattered and that I oughtn't to own one myself.

I had some computer and car crises. Related: my resolution coming out of the old year is 1366x768 + 1680x1050, and I'd like to get a second desktop monitor because the current/old one is starting to show signs of age; it's generally not good when a flat-panel monitor takes ~30sec to warm up, I believe?

I have leveled up in office administrative skills considerably. I'm very pleased by this.

I have continued to be a fishmum the best way I know how.

I started watching TV again this year, which proved to be a really sensible way for me to cope with dodgy computers and doing the internet from one's smartphone & underpowered old chromebook.

Kat wrote the most hilarious recommendation letter ever.

Deacon, my aunt's black lab, is still approximately as cheerful as ever, but his hind end is continuing to go out.

I participated in NaNoWriMo as always, but didn't finish this year. I'm okay with that.

There is a local group of gay gamers, and I was introduced to them. Hilarity ensued.

Yay, party. Also, yes, a 30sec boot time for a flat-screen is BAD. So you may want to stay investing in a new monitor.
