The Great Room Swap: Monday Mayhem
12:49 PM Monday, July 13, 2020
Started dishes before getting breakfast.
Despite my apprehension about waking up in the dark and having a problem getting to the bathroom, I was out around 1:30am and didn't need to get up until after 6, which was light. I roused a few times after that, when Yellface was yelly about breakfast, when the roomba lodged itself near the foot of the bed and chirped (I will have to remember to look up how to reset it back to English, because I accidentally changed its language when cleaning it the other week), when Belovedest came in post-shower. I got nice solid sleep, yay!
Next tasks: brush hair, shower, start preparing for floor wash in living room.
... oh *heck* I forgot I was supposed to go into the lab for fasting blood this morning.

Floor is fully destapled in red room. Red room has had contents of hallway stuffed back into it, in preparation for the hallway & living room main rectangle power wash. This decision is because of timing on carpet cleaner rental. Living room main rectangle has been cleared; couch and dragon-sized chair define the boundaries, plus whatever else is reachable. (There are multiple boxes, and the coffee table has been moved.)
We're plotting to leave by 4, right?
Time has ceased to have meaning.
Sitting at computer to catch breath. I posted a few little snippets of my rolling scratch file, backdated. One wasn't private.
Shower next! I have put my watch on to charge, after clearing more of the dining room passage to allow shampoo object to nyoom through.

Showered! Belovedest has vacuumed and shampooed the carpet. We have fans on, y0.
Next: Renton.

The object called "Rincewind's Jug" is a 2-liter water jug with a molded plastic handle, plus a collar around the neck with a woven strap handle. The brand name is something like RICWINANN, which Belovedest has rendered as Rincewind-Ann. I needed a large jug for not necessarily immediate-use water, but water that could conceivably be used to add to the active water bottle when that runs out. I go through a lot of water, and more so in the summer.

After the false starts of Sunday, we arrived at the Place of Furniture. (Their Craigslist ad had converted to FREE! FREE! FREE!, which coupled with the originally seen goal of the 4pm Sunday end time, spoke of some amount of desperation.) We accepted two fire extinguishers (large, the kind Dad had that I'm used to), a small table that sadly did not fold (I was hoping for folding), and two sturdy AF Steelcase waiting room chairs that I could sit in with reasonable comfort and without any shaking or squeaking. I played a bit of Car Tetris, and they fit! Yay, me.
Belovedest had picked a parking spot across from the big open garage door. The lady in charge suggested we could back up to the thing so it would be closer. Belovedest was a ways away from me. I tried shouting in normal words, but the mask, the distance, and their ears were against it. I recalculated, and clarified: "BACK THAT THANG UP!" That's the glory of communicating in memes; the strength of the meme means you've got more chance that the autocomplete in your counterpart's head is going to get the correct thing than just a randomly phrased sentence. [insert digression about R2D2 and C-3PO's counterpart bond in the Thrawn trilogy here.] Belovedest backed that thing up.
We looked at possible under-bed storage to keep Escape Calico from sneaky-sausageing her way under Alex's bed to leave presents. I thought I'd left the phone in the car, but it had just slipped down where I wasn't expecting it. There was one that's only got a small crack vs. the under-bed height, yay. The other side will have to be protected differently. Silver and I were thinking some of the short white shelves. I snagged some white (and presumably matching) fabric bins to use with, potentially.
Since we were there, I spotted exactly the kind of table I was considering to make the middle seats of the couch a little more easily worked with. Yay!
I went and looked at the snack offerings while Belovedest checked out, then I took both carts out to the car and loaded them up while Belovedest stood in the customer service line to get the missing parts for the bookcase.
We drove home nearly without incident. There was someone who tried to cut us off, and did several obnoxious lane changes. There was a car with a number of stickers that made it clear that they are the kind of vegan that many other vegans edge away from. And, delightfully, I was able to get a picture or two of the Pride flag on top of the Dome. They, too, got a Philly Pride flag this year. The city had said something about having the Pride flag up for the month of July, likely mostly because June disappeared into the physical distancing such that the workers who would have been putting it up for June likely weren't available (nobody needs to risk their life for the flying of that flag, even though it is still somewhat of a battleground).
Alex had made a large pan of chocolate chip cookie! Yay! It happens to be Belovedest's favorite, or at least favorite of the easily-obtained cookies.
