Craft day streaming
I'm not sure if what I'm looking for actually exists. I have a vague and cranky distaste for Twitch, possibly caused by the rampant fuckery on the platform and a certain kind of culture.
While I'm puttering around the basement and doing vague artistic-adjacent activities, I'd like to be At Home to callers. Ideally, only people I have previously added on some miscellaneous social media, even though I haven't managed to join all the places everyone is, and [insert opinions on Facebook here].
Last time I tried an At Home streaming thing on Google Meet, some rando whose name I didn't recognize joined and then sent me creepy messages, without my being able to see an ID to block, so I'm somewhat soured on that as a platform.
I have Discord, and family video groups are great, but I have more people to chat with than The Siblings. I don't want to have to start an All Azz's Friends discord server because that implies more social energy than I actually have.
In conclusion, ????

[Discord also doesn't work for video chat on anything but the Windows desktop client. That is, it's fine if the model here is "you, a Windows desktop client user, are streaming and your friends are watching", but disappointing if you wanted to see the faces of people on other clients.
Guess who went to a more-socially-distant-than-intended socially distant Halloween party this year? The best part was when nobody told me that you have to be able to view a stream in Discord [I was using the web client] to play Jackbox games. Hot tip: Drawful (like Pictionary) is more fun (if probably less funny for the other players) if you can see everyone else's drawings before you guess what they were supposed to be of.]

Maybe if you scheduled a closed Google Meet with an open 'would you like to do this post(s) ahead of time so you can send a link to the people you know are interested and set things up so you can approve/disapprove anyone else instead of them being able to join?
But that's ... more.
This is prompting me to consider being At Home on videochat while crafting myself so ... thanks.

(in my defense I had already fetched mail multiple times that was addressed to Azure Lunatic…)

Yeah, that was going to be my unfortunate guess. I never had issues with random people joining in the past but it's possible the interface has changed at this point.

Azz - is the problem setting up the Discord, or managing it afterwards?

per https://twitter.com/discord/status/1255233817431941120,
Server Video on desktop is now rolled out to all servers with less than 1000 members.
You can video chat with up to 25 people, which has been upped from a 10 person limit during this time to help you see more of your loved ones’ faces ♡

That is pretty much what I want, except for it's Skype.
