Pool update: Visible bottom holes in pool are patched. Inflatable ring is not fully patched, and the remaining holes in it are about pinhole size, so finding them is probably going to involve soapy water and pressure. Likely at early (or late) hours.
Belovedest has floated the consideration that if we are going to replace this object, perhaps we want to replace it with something more durable. Considerations: pool is good, what size pool is good, can we attempt to make this pool work without the float, how much is this going to cost, if the goal of the pool is to beat the heat should we perhaps get better air conditioning, and if we get better air conditioning where would we put the loud hot component.
Things that are currently bringing me joy include the saga of Wally, a walrus that is worrying Wales (and points South).
Things I have learned:
* The original is Where's Wally, and Where's Waldo is a localization (of which there are many around the world)
* If you can see the relevant bits of undercarriage, it is Very Easy to discern a male walrus

I have changed my Twitter display name to include emoji for two shots (shot glasses, not dripping needles, for the sake of needlephobe friends) and a mask-wearing face. I'm glad that the odds are against me catching the thing now that I'm vaccinated and all. I am also not going to get over the emotions from the last year any time soon, especially given my general risk profile.
The northerly neighbors have a few new chooks, which we learned early-ish one morning when there was a noise. "Do you hear that?" I asked Belovedest. "Yes, a chicken's having an Opinion." "And the opinion is 'A-Doooooo-dle'," I clarified. The new chooks are silkies, and apparently the cockerel has since Gone Away Somewhere Else. Though of the original four, I wonder if the barcode is growing some sickle feathers...
