one fucking thing after another (woe ass) but also a small world

Aaaaagh fukkkkkkkk.

So this past week has been Really Something. Sunday night featured the sudden and un-ignorable worsening of a thing Belovedest has been dealing with ever since mid-August. The tl;dr of it all is that there's a coworker (we're assuming the one who holds a grudge against them for unspecified ??crimes??) who objects to an aspect of their embodiment. This has come up in reviews. Twice. The manager was reassuring but since they've been targeted for undiagnosed medical issues in the past (sleep apnea & ADHD = "disrespect" and "not paying attention (disrespectfully)") they figured they should do a thing.

That thing kicked off another thing, and they had a miserable night of it last night and a miserable morning of it, and the only good thing about them being out of commission on labor day was the relatively low number of people at urgent care. And that they were also not expected to be at work and functional.

So they got to see a doctor in person, I did my part as medical advocate as well as partner, and they got a prescription to help ease one of the more miserable aspects of it all, and some advice more actionable than the general usual suite of common sense things. Plus a note for a couple days out of work while addressing all of the things.

Right in the middle of the doctors popping in and out and the trip to imaging to make sure there weren't any stray hammers where no hammers should be, I was called upon to be the Adulting Coach, which I did with good cheer. And then I updated the group chats on what was going on. There's an appointment booked with the GP later, to talk about how this specific issue is going, plus a plea for assistance on another thing.

Unrelated to the doctor excursion, there was of course the cat needing the vet, and then mid-Friday Steph located one of those little household issues that could have been small but having gone unnoticed, does quite a bit of damage. A tiny slow leak in a PEX plastic pipe = ewwwww. It's fortunately within Steph's areas of DIY competence, but still not exactly a calming moment. And the terrible old basement toilet is being a butt again.

Another bright little moment tonight was how sometimes, the world of the internet can be a small place. Ev's co-worker is trying to preserve a specific album that he participated in, something with a really niche release around the turn of the century. Since I have some small amount of social media reach, she asked me if I could help (and more importantly, if the house librarian could use librarian accesses and knowledge). It so happens that the people I know with knowledge about niche music things from potentially that era are in #AdventuresOfStNoNo, so I pinged there. As I'd hoped, lb was available. A few more details conveyed over, including the IRC channel that some of this happened in back in the day. lb was fuzzy on that bit, but knew a guy who would probably know, one who wasn't in this channel.

It emerged that Ev's co-worker was on the same network as the StNoNo crew, although most likely not in the channel.

"It would be weird if your friend knew him," Ev mused. "...Like a weird and confusing network."

... yes. That was absolutely the guy.

My sympathies to your partner. That sounds like a very hard week.

This sounds like a lot! I hope everyone involved gets a bit of time to decompress.
