Scanning workflow now!!
The new scanner is a Brother DSmobile DS-640, and I am already very fond of it.
The setting to get it to scan the entire extremely long receipt is near the very bottom of the list. "Auto" cuts off around Legal length.
Workflow for personal receipts:
Open the Brother iPrint&Scan app.
Stick the top end of the receipt into the scanner.
On the home screen, identify what you're doing. I have created Workflows for the current 4 most likely scenarios.
Is this a:
Personal or Household receipt? The Personal buttons will save to D:\Scanned. The Household buttons will save to \\OPENMEDIAVAULT\Receipts.
Is it black-and-white, or greyscale/fucked-up? If parts of it are faded or missing, choose fucked-up.
The folder it's gone into will open. Your new file will be called something like Scan2022-10-16_183400.pdf. Open the file and make sure the image quality is acceptable. Scroll and zoom to the part of the receipt that has the date, time, and other details visible. Prepend the date, time, establishment, and anything else. The format will now look like 2022-07-04-0714-WaffleHouse-receipt-birthday_Scan2022-10-16_183400.pdf , which is ugly but that's okay.
You should now be able to use the search function to find receipts you're looking for, assuming they've been entered in accordance with the prophecy.
Azz in particular should be able to scan incoming receipts within just a short amount of time rather than dreading the process, now. :-P
