two updates and a color
Electrical: Previously, the combination of a windstorm and a DIY made some Bad Smells come out of the main kitchen light switch. The breaker is off.
Currently
* Electricians are being called; we do not have an appointment time yet.
* This breaker controls multiple things:
-- kitchen overhead lights
-- dining room light
-- hall light
-- bathroom light & fan
-- bathroom outlets
-- ENTIRE GARAGE
Fortunately, it does not control
* oven
* range & hood with light
* kitchen outlets
-- microwave
-- outlet that is currently charging Steph's camping lantern
* outlet used by the "neon" LED rope wrapped around the dining room ceiling
We're using my emergency floodlight in the bathroom when it gets dark. It went most of the night and only used two dots of power, which was nice. I'm recharging it today. The night of, I used Steph's lantern plus two candles-in-jars from previous power outages.
Also garage, but thit time garage roof: I had noted a few times before that the garage roof is sagging. This time it got into Belovedest's to-do list instead of vanishing from both our ADHD minds. So at some point someone from the company that redid the roof however long ago is going to come back and see if it's a warranty repair. We had a date and time, but that has whizzed past without any interaction. Did they come quietly and inspect without the homeowner present? We will know when we get a callback, I guess.
Color: Neon yellow! Pictures on Masto: https://blorbo.social/@azurelunatic/109944606363511176
It was time to re-do my gel polish, and I was not feeling super ambitious. Instead of the stamping that I'd been thinking about for next, I saw the packet of neon flatback rhinestones. I thought about the little box of neon powders and thought "what the hell, I'll use the yellow one from the original box" (which had been broken enough on arrival that it got yellow neon pigment all over everything).
So I hauled that out, used the latex goop to protect my cuticles, and gave it two layers of powder rubbed on. I left two nails uncolored for blood oxygenation testing. Then I added polymer clay citrus slices. I was running a little low, so I didn't put many on my right hand. I put some rhinestones on, but still felt it lacked a little something.
"I know! Glitter!"
Top coated the three middle nails, popped off the lid of the glitter tube and pressed them into the angled glitter, cured them. The texture was fantastic but I don't like texture on my right hand, so I put more layers of top coat over that until it was smooth. Then I very carefully painted half-moons over the tips of the four colored-in left nails, and shook glitter over them until they were covered in the damp, sugary-sandy textured glitz. After smudging and repairing them, I cured them. Perfect.
When I went to bed, I was startled to discover that the rhinestones are in fact Glow In The Dark. Sweeeeeeet.

I'm not sure how much of this is going to be a quick fix, and how much is going to be *stressed inhalation, in Electrician* because while half the house has been modernized, the original construction was well before the birth of Gen X. With some of the original wiring still, I think.

Also, re the nail art: pics or it didn't happen! ;-)

The two new things I tried this time were latex paint-on cuticle "tape" to make peeling off stray splotches easier, and glitter dips. Glitter dips turn out to be easy for me to do at this point in my learnings.
