is it just my browser or do all browsers treat the tag badly

The reason I dislike the <details> tag in comparison to the DW-specific <cut> tag is because my browser fails to tell my mouse that the wee triangular fucker next to the summary is interactive.

I should probably file a ticket. Sigh.

I've just tried in Firefox, Chrome, and Edge, and had the same behaviour in all three - it doesn't change the cursor to a pointing hand, but clicking on the triangle does reveal the hidden text.

Yeah, I really hate the details tag. You have to know what it is to know how to use it.

I have noticed that. It's why I started adding an Underline to the summary bit, to make it look more like a "click here" because, sometimes, I just don't want to see what I wrote when I go to do comments, and it has proven useful to me in prepping things for posting at a later date.

People using it as a fake cut tag drive me up the wall. I begged for help on a coding comm to redesign it for my layout so it looks like a real cut. The arrow's still weirdly small and no proper hover, but at least now on my reading page it's a proper (visual cut tag) if nothing else.

the triangular fucker works for me, fsvo "works" (I like being able to open a post permalink and have all the cut tags pre-expanded, and can provide the that-day's-archive link to share a post with cut tags all collapsed), but the fucker is very tiny and it's hard to hit the correct pixels to make it do the thing

That seems like an excellent thing to file a ticket over. Because having a cue to understand this is an interactive element is always good.

The browser default is to use the 'pointer' (hand) cursor for links, and *only* links, and everything else is on sites to style how they want. But buttons/selects/inputs have more obvious 'interactive' styling by default, heh.

(we could prob add it to DW site schemes at least, it looks like we do it for buttons)
