Fic, based off of a book I don't think you've read: Eric Flint and KD Wentworh's Course of Empire my long suffering Yaut muse (an alien who culture is all about establishing connections between others in order to cooperate on larger tasks) was outraged, *outraged* I tell you that the only character attempting to create associations was apparently considered to be a fool.

I was actually considering that line one of the weakest, but looking at it, the weak bit is probably "knows already"; I think I'll go ahead and replace that with "guessed already".
