Smouldering thoughts do not go out
In case the "Lunatic disappears into bathroom and does not emerge for an hour" was not clue enough, the hot water is back, however flakily. It transpires that it was not fully back in time for the redhead's shower a half-hour earlier. >.< At least my foot feels a little better. All yesterday it was feeling scrunked up -- cramped and nasty. Today it felt worse, and I was limping despite making the time to walk to work. I got it soaked, so it's not in immediate screaming agony, and some ibuprofen and I will be going to bed shortly.
The apartment was entered earlier for some kind of "water emergency" -- they were inspecting the bath tap. What for, besides emergency, I'm not sure. The sheet informing us of this was torn off a full page and left on the toaster, so I am guessing that it was not just us who they barged in upon.
I was tidying the kitchen a bit, and spotted the half-full plastic jar of blue glass pebbles. They were wet, so I couldn't well put them in my bag of shinies, and anyway, the area about here needed a bit of shining up. So I charged them with the awareness that magic is real and just around the corner if you know how to touch it, and distributed them among the gravel "lawn" that the apartment complex has.
There are plenty of kids who are going to be exploring around and picking up and poking rocks, and there's very little that's more cool than picking up a pretty shiny that can be all yours. I have a number of little treasures poked away back in Alaska.
I saw a little gecko chillin' on a window security screen while I was scattering my shiny bits of glass about. Yay gecko.
My latest personal development/artistic project is an attempt to learn to sing "Aka to Kuro".
Learning to sing this is not such a futile pursuit as one might imagine, given that I do not know enough Japanese to get myself out of trouble. If I listen to the music and can read along with the Romaji, and can learn to sing the syllables, I'm there. I'd probably do better with sheet music, because then I can read the notes as well as the lyrics, but I'll eventually get it.
I have taken to using random lyrics from all sorts of things as post subjects. Somehow they manage to fit in some sort of bizarre and surreal way.

nemureru shishi wa mezame mihatenu yume o ou
nemuranu machi wa towa ni asu naki asu o ou
watashi wa hitori de hitomi hiraku yoru
The sleeping lion has awakened, pursuing the dream not seen through
The sleepless village is eternally pursuing the tomorrow without a tomorrow
Alone I open my eyes this night
yami no oku de itsu made mo
kurenai yureru nokoribi no you ni
yoroi matou kokoro ni mo
kusubutta omoi wa kiezu
Forever within the darkness
Like crimson, swaying embers
Even in armor-clad hearts
Smouldering thoughts do not go out
aa subete o moyasu hodo
jounetsu no honoo no naka
ikite itai to
Ah, until everything burns
Within the passionate flames
I want to keep living
nemureru shishi wa mezame mihatenu yume o ou
yukubeki michi ga doko e tsuzuite ita to shite mo
itsuka anata ni tadoritsukeru
The sleeping lion has awakened, pursuing the dream not seen through
Even if the road I should travel continues to somewhere
Someday I will struggle to your side
mure nasu hitsujitachi no miageru tooi sora
hakanai shiawase yori motto daiji na mono o
kono te ni tsukamu to shinjite iru kara
The distant sky to which flockless sheep look
I believe that in these hands I can hold
A thing more important than transient joy
kawa no KOOTO ni kakushimotsu
yowasa o irodoru tame no yaiba
anata no ude ni dakarete
kobosu namida de tokashitai
Carried concealed beneath a leather coat
The sword to paint weakness
Embraced in your arms
Dissolved by spilled tears
aa inochi ni kaete made
mamoritai mono o hito wa
mada motte iru no
Ah, even if changed by life
Do people still possess
Things that they want to protect?
ten ni wa kami wa orazu chijou wa arekuruu
mekurumeku yokubou no ou ni tsukaeshi tami wa
kyomu o kakaete toorisugiru
God is not in the sky, the earth is raging
A people useful for chasing after dazzling desires
Carrying darkness under their arms, and passing through
kegarenu kokoro no naka anata o omotte iru
kegareta kono sekai de deaeru ai wa kitto
hoka no nani yori mo hikari kagayaku darou
Within my untainted heart I am thinking of you
Within this tainted world, a chance love surely
Shines brighter than anything else
nemureru shishi wa mezame mihatenu yume o ou
yukubeki michi ga doko e tsuzuite ita to shite mo

The sleeping lion has awakened, pursuing the dream not seen through

kegareta kono sekai ni umareru ai wa kitto
hoka no nani yori mo hikari kagayaku darou
The sleeping lion has awakened, pursuing the dream not seen through
The sleepless village is eternally pursuing the tomorrow without a tomorrow
Today as well I close my eyes alone
Within my untainted heart I am thinking of you
Within this tainted world, love that is born surely
Shines brighter than anything else
