Mmmm... sushi.

Does anything compare to the pleasures of homemade sushi? Mmmm. I would guess not much. (Not sashimi. I do not have the skills nor the experience for any raw fish, not to mention that I wouldn't know where to come across the good raw materials... )

But at any rate, when gremliness was through here last year, she made sushi for us, and demonstrated the art. I took careful note, and have made it perhaps once since.

votania suggested it tonight. I fixed the rice (and served some to the Little Fayoumis with cheese and chicken before altering it) and prepared the vinegar stuff (I used half a cup of vinegar, two tablespoons of brown sugar, and maybe half a tablespoon of salt) and left it to chill while we went out to get other materials. We came back with canned crab meat, avacado, cucumber, and cream cheese, and made variations on those themes, with cheddar cheese too.

votania rolls tighter logs of sushi than I do, so that's her job now. We laughed about this a lot.

Mmm, sushi is good.

I will try very hard to ensure that there are leftovers tomorrow for witchofrock.
