Dec. 20th, 2002 01:22 amI am glad I got to talk with Darkside tonight. Told him about Yakky. He didn't sound overenthusiastic about the concept. We talked. There were a few delightful moments... bad joking about us both being in bed for the call... me hardly being able to find the words to talk around telling him that there is a person who would be my Primary, if that person should ever date me... me being even more tongue-tied over telling him that I know what his schedule is like, and that I'm honored that he should take out any of his free time to spend it with me.
Darkside's never been one to be comfortable with strong emotion. He suggested caffeine. We have a new banter-cliché: "I've missed you." "That's not what the bruises say..."
We had the exchange about him being a nice guy, again. No one but for a few people see that side of him. Everyone else gets to see the rough, spiky, sarcastic, defensive, closed-off side of him. He cracked that his lack of a reputation could be useful in certain circles of work.
He's quite a bit less bland than Illyan, though. And he hasn't plans to take over the world.
...Every little window inside his head, even just the jokes, are delightful.
We grow together. I still want to learn him enough, be trusted enough, for those moments of his, when he needs someone... it feels awkward, and uneven, to always be the weak one. But I suppose for that to work, I'll have to grow to attain a higher position of strength than his... I'm getting better. Day by day, little act of Will by Will, I become myself. I think he still sees me partly as I will be... I like that.
