Grandcat is named Meow Meow (formally, Alterna, but that's for the vet's office). She has frequent diarrhea. Kiddo's strategy involves a "decoy rug" near the litterbox, which fortunately has been working.
Unfortunately, this means the rug can become Very Gross. And because she uses it, it's not a good idea to *not* have it, in a carpeted room. I put down a dog towel and puppy pad while we washed it this weekend. I bleached the hell out of it, which turned the brown stripes a rather attractive pink.
Belovedest and I decided to get a second one, so it can be swapped in while the other one is washed. I'm pleased to report that we managed to find the exact same rug (small bathmat) at Home Goods.
Attributes:
* Thick, uniform and not the lumpy chenille that has thin spots
* Washable
* No rubber backing
* patterned rather than plain so stains won't show as much
* Brown
