Exhaustion, Tigereye
Jan. 21st, 2002 12:41 amLong and tiring weekend. Will be still longer as we have another day yet: the death of a hero is mainly celebrated by this nation in being thankful for the day off from work or school.
Tigereye, my faithful laptop, is down. What does this mean? This means that the cord from the transformer, that long-suffering bit of equipment that I battled with in I believe August or so, the battle in ordering the damn replacement part, gave up the ghost the other day, right after talking with former LJ user ras_sinister. (Good conversation, man, if you're reading this. I like thinking, and that's one of the things you do to me, you make sure I use my brain more than I have to with most people.)
The batteries are dead, and there's no way to recharge them until I get another transformer.
SOL, I suppose, until then.
The thing that hurts the very worst, however, is that my novel, which I was finally getting back to working on on a regular basis, is stored on that computer. There is a fairly current backup online, but not with the refinements I've put on it in the past week or two.
Dammit.
I'm going to be pissy until I get that cable, which means I'll have to get a little private time with my phone and the Dell service number. Gods I hate talking to those bastards.
