...From the polyamory community...

The problem with this is that if sex -- or anything external to yourself -- is essential to your sense of self-worth and your belief that life is good, then you’ve got problems. Big problems. Problems that other people who care about your well-being should not be embracing as though they’re actually a good thing. Simply flooding your brain with endorphins -- however often or with howevermany people -- doesn’t actually solve any underlying insecurities or wounds that you may have; if anything, such desperate “pleasure fixes” only dissuade you from addressing your real problems.

Something for me to definitely think about.

Sex for that reason should be regarded in the same light as Prozac and drugs of the like: something to keep me out of a place where my mind should not be for its own health: something to keep me in a frame of mind where I can work identifying the roots of the problem and work on the problem itself without going more insane.

On defining words, a condensation of a comment

The word "polyamory" has one denotation and several connotations.

From the word's roots:

"poly" = Greek, "many, much"
"am" = Latin, "to love"
"ory" - Latin, suffix, "tending to, etc."

There we have it: "Tending to love many" from the word's roots. There is the denotation. All else is connotation.


Clearly, there is not a word in current use that means "to have sex with many", love not entering into the discussion. This is a lack that is sorely felt.

As the word "polyeroticism" has been used by the polyamorous community for some time, how about "multieroticism"?

"mult" Latin, "many"
"er(ot)" Greek, "Love"

or even

"multiamory", keeping it all in Latin. But "amor" has developed the connotation of love that is more than just sexual, while "erotic" is clearly connected to sexuality.


I am not only polyamorous, as I have many romantic loves, I am also multierotic, having sex with many people, with or without benefit of relationship.


Try the words on for size.

Why do my ex-boyfriends become vampires?

2/3 of the virgins I have slain have afterwards become vampires. White Wolf style, that is. Vampire: The Masquerade. First BJ, now Adam. The other one... I think he was in the first place.

Adam came over last night to talk about life in general. Before I opened the door, I remarked to Votania in an undertone that I thought that this was my week to beg for sex. She cracked up, and when Adam and I disappeared into my room, she promptly sent me an instant message.

Before anything fun started, I went to the door, announced that I was locking it now, and shut and locked it. Then I signed off all my IM programs.

In the shower afterwards, I discovered that Adam now likes nibbling on necks, and having his own neck nibbled on. A change from before; even after he moved out of his parents' house, hickeys were prohibited. I'd still prefer Darkside's neck, and having Darkside play vampire with me, but fun is fun. Fun is very fun.

I wound up too sore for much of a second round, and probably fell asleep in the middle of things. There was snuggling. There is always snuggling unless schedule prohibits it. I like that very very much.

Bad Cat!

Caught the cat harrassing the fish. Hissed at him, grabbed him, took him over to the fishtank and set him by it, washed him, brought him back to the fishtank, showed him the fish, told him what was what.

He's currently slinking around in great unhappiness.

Programming

Evidently the ability to run short, small programs in the head of the programmer is a rarity. ...I thought everybody could do that.

Don't Kill the Old Lady!

Votania's great-aunt came by with Votania's cousin, the one who works at the Fry's Electronics in Votania's family's corner of the city, in the Mesa area.

Votania's mother made Votania promise that Votania would not reveal that she was a witch to Great-Aunt or Great-Grandma, because the shock of finding that out (both are Christian, and Great-Aunt is her church's secretary) might kill the old biddies.

For anyone who has been in our apartment, you know what it's like. For those who haven't, there are pentagrams everywhere: on the door, on the wall, just decorative witchy knick-nacks, and a small shelf with easily fifty witchy books on it... dragons, tigers, a hexagram above the glass doors, a formal seal, that one...

Evidently Great-Aunt was uncomfortable, and Votania's cousin was taking a close look at the witchy bookshelf, and noted the Harry Potter movie besides.

Votania says that she knows her cousin well enough to know that he is going to blab this delightful fact all over the family to everyone who doesn't know it already. Interesting, interesting. We're laughing that they're going to blame me for corrupting her...

Strippers

Votania's cow-orkers, led by the delightful Blonde, are planning a trip to see some male strippers. She was invited along, but had to check with Echo first, and make sure I could come as well.

Chippendale dancers. Lunatic.

...I'm trying to remember the last time I was in a strip club. I dated a male stripper, once...

Micro$oft's Rain of Terror

DeVry and Microsoft have this sweetheart little deal worked out: DeVry charges its students money, and Microsoft "gives" each student a packet of programs to put on their home computers for the duration of their stay at DeVry, and if the students graduate from DeVry, Microsoft will let them use the software indefinitely.

My CD bundle is sitting on the top shelf of my less-than-stable desk, mostly unused, and when I bumped into my desk, the CD packet flew all over the place, hitting me.

Damn frisbees.
