Darkside and I are sitting in the computer lab talking about some of the things on the decipher.com message boards, the one message involving dragons, and lack thereof...

"Hey, Neighbor! If you were a dragon, would you eat hobbitses for breakfast?"

We then started talking about the best way to fry hobbit. Breaded, like popcorn chicken...

Silly Darkside. Damn Websense.

DeVry's now using Websense to make sure that the students don't go to sites where they should not be. "Adult", "Tasteless", and now "Games" are blocked. Tonja Steele is "tasteless". Huh?

Darkside is pissed about the whole games issue; he's dependant on going around to gaming websites; he follows many message boards, but doesn't post. He also downloads fun stuff for printing and reading during class.

Now he's going around to various gaming sites just to see if they're still working from school, or if they've been blocked.

Silly Darkside.

More headache. evealone is here. I can make him blush. He made grumpy noises about being such a nice guy; I punched him and glared. Much blushage. Darkside and I are giggling over gaming stuff. evealone just got a spam from DeVry, right after the discussion that Darkside and Ron and I had about spam... there was much laughter.

"This is your best instructor. This is your best instructor on spam..." Ron would go ballistic.

Note to self:

Darkside won't be able to get the LotR rpg for the next two weeks.

I can follow kid-logic to some extent, but not quite enough. Not yet. My empathy's not quite on enough yet to do that. Wide-open, for me, is very scarily little, even with Darkside, unless he's broadcasting loudly...

...and I can't stay open. I think that's the key point there. If I am that wide open, which I think I was for a few months somewhere back there, I can't let anyone touch me except a select few, or even get near me. For a while, I would only let Shamash, Darkside, Adam, Dawn, and Neighbor touch me, and then only sometimes. I got panic attacks otherwise, nasty human-too-close claustrophobia.

I don't need that much empathy to work with older kids.

I'm going to have to work on narrowband empathy shields. I have a great one with Darkside: when it's not blocked off (we each have complete control over filters on our own side of it) we are completely wide open to each other, and no one else. Not even someone else who's logged in to one of us can access that link: it's been tried, and they were booted, quite roughly. Heck, when Dagger tried to link with Darkside's "Peter Pan" subset, she was booted.

I guess I'm going to have to get used to progressively younger children, so I'll know I'll be able to deal with babies when I do have one.

Umm.

We're fairly sure that it's Dagger out right now, because of the change in attitude and organizational patterns. Who would have thought that Dagger was the more organized of us? You can tell by the writing and by the web work, I think, that it's me out. She's content to scatter things wherever they may lie; I like to get things all set up nicely and with tidiness to withstand the worst of Garnet's scatterbrainedness. I call her Garnet, OK; she calls herself Joanie, but when I'm referring to her separately, I call her Garnet. My other half, the rather fluffy one.

It would be very nice if we got the swapping around more under control. How the hell can she forget to drink enough water?

This morning when walking to school, I noticed, more than ever, the heads turning. Votania told me about it, but I didn't believe her... and then I started seeing it.

Preparing for War

That's what it feels like, working up for the weekend with her family. My cellphone is armed, and will be loaded with the numbers of friends. I have the September bus pass, and should grab a bus schedule for my purse Just In Case.

Evidently the sub sandwiches for the combined birthday party contain pork.

You must understand that when Votania eats pork, she vomits. Pork unsettles her stomach, and she will become physically ill. It's not merely a religious issue. I'm not even sure if it is a religious issue. Somehow, Votania's mother is unable to accept that Votania not only will not, but cannot eat pork, and continues forcing the issue.

When Dawn heard about the goings-on between Votania and her mother regarding the pork issue, she turned an expression I didn't think to ever see from her, and made furious comments about disrespect, which is one of the most severe curses in Dawn's book.

This is going to be a fun weekend. I just hope the anticipated drama is greater than actual.
