Monitored today. At least this time I was on for monitoring on the checkin schedule, rather than being wallflowered and then pulled off the phones to monitor.

It did not feel like a productive day at all. Hoo boy, did it ever not. But it started out deceptively well. )

We have new monitors. Besides Figment, there are Pseudo-Emo Monitor and Geek-Clone Monitor. )

It was on $ISSUE_SIDE_JOB that the trouble started. )

There were newbie-moments. )

My efficiency was damaged. )

But newbie mistakes have nothing on the mistakes of someone who's been there long enough to know better. )

And that was about how my day went.

Cleanup was better, because Geek-Clone Monitor was trying to figure stuff out and wandering around asking bright-eyed, sweet, clueless, hard-working & conscientious, and endearing questions. That was nice.

But dear suffering GODS, I don't want to have to deal with that many minus reports in a row again!

Will no longer be watching [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes and [livejournal.com profile] nonfluffypagans, as my friends list is insane. Staying in both of those communities, though, because I want the reminder to read them.

As I'm updating from AzureBlue (insert obligatory s. oteri joke here) it may be immediately obvious that I am not only at work but also on the phones. It's the last day of the month and jobs are due to close, I am confidently expecting all hell, or at least a great deal of heck, to break (or be broken) loose.

Dialer is slowish. Not complaining. It is far too hot both inside and out, so I am uncomfortably sticky.

Pink Shirt Guy is wearing his pink shirt today. It's a flattering color on him.

Got a lady on the phone with an emergency: she had to go to the hospital with her husband.

Ordinarily I would have done almost what I did this time: hope everything goes well and get off the phone as soon as possible.

This time, though, my eyes filled before I'd even cut the connection. I sang a brief prayer. I was the clergy on the spot this time, I guess...

There are moments in this job when I feel that the general inconvenience of calling at bad times is made up for by the help I can give by calling at just the right time.
