azurelunatic: melting chocolate teapot (chocolate teapot)
Wednesday, December 8
My sleep schedule was wack. And then I discovered that I had (yet again) a b0rked download in Manic Pixi Dream Girl's app manager, and -- wouldn't you know -- it was Tweed.

This fucked up my lifestyle. )

What with the need for sleep, I went to the Freebase meetup in something of a bad way, because I was having Twitter withdrawal. At least the presentation was good. There were some unfortunate AV problems, so they broke out a whiteboard and did the interpretive dance version of the presentations. There was a sadly small crowd, in part due to the heavy rain. Rain in San Francisco can sometimes make me feel so happy and so pretty. It was just hammering down, with dead leaves plastering sidewalks and gutter, the air smelling so wet and alive, the light gradually dimming as the sun went down.

Tif came too, and then there were shopping shenanigans. I explained to some of my Steampunk twitter-peeps about the incident with Dad and the carrot ends in bed, cementing my reputation there as Somewhat Odd. Tif's pen kept attempting to leap places.

My sleep schedule was woe, but at least I went to Tif's and we watched Fringe and stuff.

[personal profile] rb was having one of those days, so I sent "Stuart" and "The Conspiracy Song", because those are usually good for Those Days.

Very shortly, it became apparent that it was One of Those Days for many of us. My uncle had a concussion. I locked my keys in my car. I had no spare keys, on account of the key being chipped -- not even a spare to use as a door key. How bitterly I regretted that!

At some point in here I did get the phone fixed, though not without a lot of email back and forth.

Craft and chat day with aunt and her friends. Fun for all. First I stopped off for some keys, though.

I got quite a bit done on my afghan, and bonded with some of my aunt's friends. One of the ladies had brought a very low-effort dish, sliced tomatoes with marinated mozzarella balls and clipped basil. OMG YUM. Also someone had brought a cranberry chevre log, and OMG YUM. I thus learned that I in fact could eat goat cheese, it was just that I had problems with the abrasive sort that Mama really likes.

I brought a little container full of sugar for tea, and a little spoon to serve it with, and got all sorts of compliments on the spoon. It is adorable.

One of the ladies was trying to get set up on my aunt's sewing machine. It took a bit of doing. Three hours worth of doing. But she felt as if she knew what she was doing by the end, and she was trying to do it herself. We, in the spirit of the thing, cheered her on the whole way. Hooray!

I saw my first banana slug. I see why they call them banana slugs. They are very big and yellow.
