Today's kitchen adventures involved [personal profile] alexseanchai making burgers. Om nom nom.

I was feeling poorly so I curled up with fic.

Got the chance to chat with [personal profile] norabombay. She's holding up all right. Her father is A+ at isolating, which is good with his health.

Costco has some hours changes.

It feels vaguely like a month past the Equinox, not just ten-ish days. Other people have been observing that their time sense is freewheeling too.

Yesterday I didn't sleep much, so last night once I fell asleep I was down like a rock. I didn't sleep an entire 10 hours, but it was reasonably close.

Archive.org has certainly made a decision, and that decision is not popular with authors. I'm concluding that some of the vehemence of the reaction involves the financial apocalypse that everyone except people with essential jobs (or good leave policies) is currently facing. Cue me getting very specific with my Twitter filters, because it's not healthy for me to take in unknown amounts of apocalypse-fuelled terror and rage throughout the day, no matter how much I like the people involved.

Gig is going well. Yesterday was not a good day for it, because I was variously miserable throughout. I decided that today I was going to go through the presentation I was basing this on, and see what needs changing. I'm going to need to re-do a WHOLE LOT, but at least I'm getting the slides color-coded for what is unreviewed, what is needs-info, and what is probably good to go for a first draft. In there I was poking Twitter gently, listening to Pandora, and frying some rice. (The sautee pan needed de-greasing from last night's burgers, and there was rice to use up. Ergo fried rice.)

Tonight I may do some beans with the reserved bacon grease. I have to slice celery, though, and that's not exactly what I want to be doing just now. Alas. We got a nice big bag of beans for when the little bag runs out. I should put some of the other miscellaneous pulses into the beans, too, to free up some room.

My current topic of hyperfocus is practical apocalypse fashion. [personal profile] norabombay agreed that what I want in the way of outerwear is definitely an abaya. I'm looking for one that's black, comes to just above ankle length on 5'6.5" me, comes in my size, is capable of opening all the way down the front, and doesn't break my budget. I was measuring the snaps in my current sun hats, with the idea of making extra veil/mask items. (The Saturday chat with Belovedest's family had comments about making masks less intimidating; the state of the Asian personal reusable mask art has a variety of decorations, but the velcro-on mustache was a novel idea to me.) I suspect that my sun hat is using knockoff snaps of the big name brand, because they measured approximately 12.5mm across the cap, but the inside of the socket looks like the snap one size up from that. I also ordered a bicycle safety light. This model comes with LASERS. Specifically, laser personal space markers. And there are two settings: lane, and stellar grid. Hello, questionable and potentially regrettable haberdashery.

To that end, I was looking for something that would get me a screw and socket that I could mount on the hat. I, er, was not expecting that one of the pouches (like for baby food and applesauce) should suggest itself to me, but that's on my list of hardware now for the proof-of-concept.

(I made the bean soup. I undersalted it again, but I added the salted chicken flavor powder after it depressurized, and it's good.)

Been reading fic. My library books are suddenly not necessarily appealing.
