Along the lines of the VSD's, someone who shall remain nameless has taken to ending posts with "Still a virgin."

*snicker*

Am still trying, so far unsuccessfully, to swap virgins with [livejournal.com profile] votania. The model that I broke in has been successfully transferred, but so far the one that was hers is successfully evading all attempts to have his care and, um, feeding, transferred to me.

"She said eating their monster tacos was like having an orgasm."

"Those are either really good tacos, or really bad orgasms."

Whee!

It's probably not Light Side of the Force to contemplate tying up one's quasi-Apprentice and helping them get over a phobia.

Gemini: Why it's always double great to be a Gemini, but especially now. 1. You get to enjoy both the odd pleasure of being your own evil twin and the difficult pleasure of forgiving your evil twin. 2. You're endowed with the ability to have two opinions at the same time, sometimes completely contradictory, thereby imitating God's expansive perspective. 3. You can put yourself into and out of everybody's shoes with such slippery ease that you not only never get bored with yourself, but also have a knack for avoiding other people's hells. (Thanks to Dominique in Toronto for the inspiration.)

Cancer: The Sun is cruising through your astrological House of the Blues, while the planet Venus is slinking through your astrological House of Song. As a result, you have a knack for singing the blues with special poignancy. It's a great time to act as if the whole world were the shower stall where you do your most soulful wailing. You'll be amazed at how healing it is to swim to the bottom of every last feeling, all the while making beautiful groaning noises.

Who would have thought that the guy from SA-talk who I was talking about hanging out with sometime, as we were both in the same state, would turn out to have an LJ, and show up on my friends list?

It's weird to get to know someone somewhere, and then realize that you've already known them...

If he's been playing it long enough to start whining about it, he's probably been playing it too long.

"12:16 p.m. Don't you just hate it when your neighbor's peacock gets on your roof?"

Aunt-Fayoumis has peacocks. Most of them are fairly well-behaved: one of them, the juvenile male, is not. His name is Shitball, for behavioral reasons. He won't go into the peacock pen at night, and winds up perching on the roof just outside the bedroom window. Then, in the middle of the night, he wakes up, becomes lost and disoriented without his Mommy, and starts crying for her. (Ever heard a peacock yelling about something?)

This, of course, wakes up Aunt-Fayoumis.

It runs on a two-day cycle. After he's gone to bed on the roof, the following day he gets no extra peacock treats, and has to fend for himself from what he can forage. This means that he's hungry come bedtime, and goes compliantly into the peacock pen. All is quiet.

The next day, however, he stays out at night again, and goes to sleep on the roof...

At last update, Aunt-Fayoumis was looking for someone wanting to buy a one-year-old male peacock...

Potatoes and corn and gravy and salad are on the table. Turkey's being carved. We'll have to move the roses to make room for it all.

Nephew's muching on carrots while we wait for everything.

This is my first time making gravy. It seems to have done well.

...for not being so completely broke as to have Thanksgiving
...for the rain
...for my family, both near and far
...for he who guards my heart from outsiders, himself, and me
...for prowly cats who put their paws up on the top of the silverware drawer and ask for turkey
...for windows that open to let in the smell and sound of the rain
...for music downloaded and playing in the background with drums and a scale that's not the traditional western one, and a language I don't understand, but sounds like my childhood and my father's records that he'd play while working on a project
...for the smell of turkey
...for the ability to improvise gravy and have it work

Note to self: when doing something in the kitchen, don't ask anyone else for help. That way, you can't be pissed at them when they do things their way, especially when it'll interfere with the end result.

I don't like it when I'm a bitch, and I don't know how to stop.

I evidently make excellent gravy. Votania said that it was better than hers, and I must teach her.

This was my first time making it.
