Updating my wish list.

Which reminds me, I have some packages to pack up and some addresses to get and some stuff to send. Do Not Open 'Til Appropriate Holiday things, y'know.

[livejournal.com profile] sithjawa: am I more likely to get something to you by seeing you offline face-to-face, or should I brave the Postal Orifice?

Ghaaa.

I still have very little in the way of gift ideas for the male mundanes in my life.

Oy, and Neighbor.

This is the first time I've had to do Yule with a severe budget cramp and lots of friends.

...Not that there are many male mundanes in my life.

Hee.

I make my room glitter. Whee.

Have been surfing the "who's friended you today" tool, putting in names, taking names from that list and putting them in, and so forth. Have thus stumbled upon the journal of [livejournal.com profile] doomdoomdoom, whose writings look sufficiently nifty to be added to my friends list. Amusingly, said user is already connected to me via [livejournal.com profile] gremliness, who I coincidentally IM'ed several minutes ago regarding my successful completion of some glitterbombs.

Have realized that the gifts that [livejournal.com profile] votania and I have constructed for the girls are glittering glamourbombs. They consist of a pretty box with a butterfly on top, a pretty jar of enchanted lotion within, a necklace, and a whole lot of glitter and shiny strands of iridescent white tinsel.

Glamourbomb.

Because it's going to get all over.

Have glammed up my room, hanging a fringe of the tinsel over the threshold to my room proper. Had to do something with the stuff. Should perhaps hang the rest underneath the blacklight, after adjusting the placement of my sword. and the attendant stuff.

Darkside does indeed have that internship. Unpaid, but still.

Looks like he works there until noon. He's also asked to have a fixed schedule at his work, and it looks like he's got Wednesdays and Thursdays off, as usual.

I shall Nobly Refrain from making too many Monica Lewinsky jokes.

Told Darkside of my usual bedtimes. He gestured disapproval: I told him that the way my schedule worked, it would make sense for me to become nocturnal.

He's getting better at picking the words from my mind. I point it out to him every now and then.

Working...

...on novel.

Ghaa, my old writing is horrible. My style's cleaned up a lot since 1994. Oy, eight years? I was fourteen when I started this...

Currently, writing a sex scene that is supposed to wind up rather weird. Any suggestions? I'm fresh out. I'll move on to another bit and come back later.

How odd.

I'd forgotten how much Zach resembles Darkside. Or Darkside resembles Zach.

Very different men, but there's something about both of them...

Darkside usually makes a point of going to movies alone. In the past, he's actively resisted seeing movies other than by himself.

This time, he's ... I wouldn't call it 'making an effort', really, but he's not hindering my efforts to spend time with him, and in fact making subtle flickers that suggest he'd like to watch this movie with me.

This is a drastic change from before. Instead of making comments about the delights of solitude, and his distinctly curmudgeonly attitude, and his awkward schedule, and how busy he always is, in a cool, off-putting tone, this time he's been making regretful-sounding comments about the volatility of his schedule, and seeing what he can do, and now that his schedule's settled into place, he's been speaking about the unreliability of movie availability in the theatre closest to me, in the tone of someone who's been disappointed often, and not caring to have a friend's hopes built up only to be collapsed. The things he says are so similar, the differences so subtle, that it's not easy to sort out what exactly has changed. I've just known him far too long, and far too deeply, to let changes slip by unnoticed.

After (not directly but very clearly) cautioning me on the illogic of pinning my hopes on seeing this movie with him, the random boppings of fate being what they are, he mentioned that another movie he'd like to see sometime soon is the latest James Bond. I happily agreed that that would be another movie I would like to see with him, and again, his lack of the 'I tend to see movies without company' response was notable. He instead went into happy-movie-geek mode.

While happy-movie-geek is one of his less guarded faces, it's also one of his masks. One of his primary masks.

"Interesting. Very interesting," as he would say.

Oooh! English/American dictionary! And also, I found that there are services on the web that will identify the language of something you dump into it. Who would have thought that the interesting pages I found were written in Estonian? I was guessing Finnish, myself.

It makes me happy when I think of something cool and geeky, and then learn that someone's already done it. And that I can find it less than thirty seconds after thinking, "Wouldn't that be cool?"

I'm going to try to reset myself by staying up all day today, so I'll be back on target. This, if it works, will be one of the first times I've successfully wound my clock all the way around back to start.

If that fails, at least I'll be awake long enough to call Darkside and make arrangements about the movie.

Looks like we're likely on. For Wednesday the 18th.

Remove Paul Rowan from Xgn, or establish his character firmly. (Am wondering should he be the Scotty clone in the Captain's universe. Would like the Green Alert chapter back in, complete with New Year party.)
Establish Rose as far more cavalier towards Zach until the moments of truth.
Establish Zach as far more serious about Rose, and less, ...um, well. Kimmiebeth knows from whence Zach springs. And Zach's origins are not good, and unromantic to boot.

I am surreal, and can only hold down one word at a time. Is am talking with/to Yakko the Great, neighbor (not Neighbor, but neighbor) and schoolmate.

Adam getting own place on 10th. Spiffiness, as DC would say.

Wonder what DC is up to. Must say hi to her and baby. Daddy dearest not liking DC; suspect I know reason why. Like perception of DaddySir; am skeptical of own perceptions now. Is not good maneuver.

When with Shawnyel talking I was night this/last, recommended he did http://www.somethingpositive.net and its alarming archives. Thought he did that dig it I would. Right he is: dig it I already do, in the heartiest of hearty fashions. Recommending it to general public of the not squicked by easiliy things within am I completely.

Squicks include to not go there: sex humor, boneless jello cat humor (cat live continuing character), poking fun at oversexed maniacal egotist sort of thing, hot asian chick cruelly biting at the neck of a harmless dweeb vampire larper, and pointless cruelty and other assorted sadisms mostly psychological to various characters.

Delighted with it I am, naturally, being evilly humored.

Am the train hearing with ears. Toot, toot. Roaring noise. Must low traffic day.

Trying up to stay longer than possible because stuff, and then the sleep. Through whole day sleep hope? Night and stuff.

Yeah.

I am irritated with those people who get irritated with authors for taking a long time about the Next Book in a series, or the Next Installment of a fanfic. Encouragement ("Loved last, can't wait for next, Write, Lois, Write!") is all fine and dandy and cool, but when a fan gets mad at an author for taking a long time at a book, that's where I get mad at the fan.

I'd rather have good-quality writing done in the author's own sweet time than poor-quality writing churned out like clockwork. (Surely most of you know one or two authors who started out excellent, but have since dropped in quality?)

On the other hand, I adore authors who do things like this: Due to the tight-knit nature of the List, when one of the listees/wife of one of the listees had a terminal illness and was not expected to survive until the release of the next book, Lois made sure that there was a copy of the (not sure which stage of writing but not completely finished with all the publishing process) work-in-progress for the woman to read. So she did get to read the book before she died.

It is officially against the Geek Rules to make out during your first viewing of movies such as The Two Towers. You must wait for the credits.

Go. Vote. Silliness.

Randomness.

Go to http://www.reasonablyclever.com/ and hit the 'randomize' button.

If the background is a blank plain color, this is your protagonist. If the background is an actual location-type thing, this is a scene from your story.

Amusing.

...I don't know if I'll take my own challenge or not. The inspiration for this came from the randomized image of a guy, naked from the waist down, with boobs, standing on the moon, holding a whip.

And, I believe, wearing a cape.

This, of course, immediately begged the question as to what, exactly, he was doing there, and how this had come about, which was how the idea was presented to me...

...you know, it might even work as a writers'-block cracking technique. You know, the one where you choose a random action or event, like 'and then the phone rang' and run from there...
