Woke up. Went to work.
Worked.
Sat between a guy who is an aspiring rap artist and a high school buddy of his, and they caught up on who they knew then and what they're doing now, and how two of them are dead, one because a forklift fell over on him at his workplace, and another because he was hit by a truck after he came out of church. And the hottest girls from back when have, like, four kids now.

Came home. Rested a bit, then went PowerShopping.
Came home, put things away, then went PowerShopping(part II) with the Little Fayoumis in tow.
Came home to find [livejournal.com profile] ralmathon over. Yay big brother!

Heard the story of the wedding of [livejournal.com profile] digitalambience. I'm sure he was past due when he was born, and he'll be late to his own funeral too. Other than that, and the debacle with the ring vs. Mrs. [livejournal.com profile] digitalambience's glove, and the tie, all was excellent and lovely. But there was quite the story in the "Yeah, it started a bit late"...

Now, soon, bed.

Subject: Today We Lost Richard Biggs
Date: Sat, 22 May 2004 23:43:05 +0000 (UTC)

I was awakened today with several phone calls from cast members and Doug to pass along the terrible news that this morning, Richard Biggs passed away.

We're still gathering information, so take none of this as firm word, but what seems to have happened, happened quickly. He woke up, got up out of bed...and went down. The paramedics who showed up suggested it was either an aneurysm or a massive stroke.

His family members have been informed, and all of the the cast have, as far as we can determine, also been informed.

This is a terrible loss for all of us. Richard was a consummate professional but more than that he was an honorable, stand-up guy. If he gave you his word on something, you never had to wonder about it afterward. He was always helpful and supportive of all the cast, even those who only came in for one episode, always with a ready smile and determined to do whatever it took to make the scene work. He was, quite simply, a terrific guy, and everyone here is just devastated at the news.

More word as this develops. We may try to have some kind of fund raiser to help give whatever assistance may be helpful for his kids.

We all miss him terribly.

I work as a phone survey goon -- you know, the sort that calls just at suppertime and asks nosy questions about any variety of products and services (but doesn't sell anything). Today I called a household, and a perky woman answered.

"Hello, this is [livejournal.com profile] azurelunatic from Big-Ass Research Company," I said.
"Hi! Do you read the Bible?" she asked.
"From time to time, yes," I answered diplomatically.
"Oh, great! Remember, Jeeesus luuuuuuvs you!" she said. "Thank you for calling! Bye-bye!" And she hung up.

I laughed.

Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] ataniell93! Whee, it's the birthday of the one-and-only Az-the-Elder!

It's also the birthday of [livejournal.com profile] kaotika, because, you know, 5-23.

Little Fayoumis has four more days of school left for this year. Tomorrow (Monday), Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Wednesday is a party for him, and Thursday is the last day of school for the school year.

He should be in the second grade come fall.

Yikes! Cursive is a curse!
azurelunatic: Small boy making faces. Animated. (Little Fayoumis)
One of the fun games is punching-bag. The Little Fayoumis has a beanbag chair. When a grown-up holds the chair up and holds it taut, it makes an admirable shield/punching bag. The Little Fayoumis runs at you, fists and feet flying, and gives you several solid whacks through the beanbag chair.

I gave him a pointer on fighting dirty with a for-real, bad, bad-guy who's a boy: hit him as hard as you can here (between the legs) and then run away as fast as you can.

The song's nice enough by itself. I do actually like this song.

However.

For the past little while every now and then, my head has started singing:
"Avada-avada-kedavra, I wanna reach out and grab ya," but since that does not rhyme, it is wrong, and my brain wants more, and wants it to rhyme and scan right.

Argh.
