What's the first thing you ever wrote that you still have?
Does it count if my parents have it? I told stories to Mama and she wrote them down and put them in little books. "Happy Year Duck" might have been the first. It's complete nonsense.

Write poetry?
Yes. Sometimes even structured poetry!

Angsty poetry?
Not so much these days, but yes. The most epic one was the free verse letter to my high school best friend's new girlfriend, and also his old (dead) girlfriend.

Favourite genre of writing?
To read or to write? To read, I have to say science fiction and fantasy. I adore it like no-one's business.

Most annoying character you ever wrote?
I'd have to say Harry [from Home Movies from the Cutting-Room Floor]. I wrote him on purpose to be an amazingly annoying antagonist. He has a number of troubling personal habits. He is probably mentally ill, but merely in a way that irritates the snot out of everybody around him, not in a way that's actually harmful to himself or others. (He is pretty miserable, though, and he makes the people around him miserable too. Fortunately, after he gets a chance at happiness, things get a lot better for everybody.)

Write fan fiction?
Relatively rarely, but yes. I only relatively rarely get plot bunnies for SF that are sufficiently persistent that I write them.

Do you type or write by hand?
Mostly I type, but if there's paper and pen, it's by hand. I can do either. Sometimes, if I need to diagram something, as opposed to just writing it, it's paper time. Sometimes I feel like I have more freedom to screw up on paper.

Do you save everything you write?
I try to, but I don't get obsessive about every little phrase.

Do you ever go back to an old idea long after you abandoned it?
I rarely actually consciously ditch ideas. I mostly just put them aside in case I feel like dealing with them later, and then rarely come back. Sometimes I do revisit stuff.

What's one genre you have never written, and probably never will?
Ahahaha. Don't say that, or I might try to write it.

Do you want to write for a living?
Yes. Actually.

Have you ever written something for a magazine or newspaper?
Just the Summer Fine Arts Camp magazine thing.

Are you concerned with spelling and grammar as you write?
Yes. If it isn't spelled correctly, I fix it. Due to my father's influence, most of the things I write are automatically grammatically inoffensive, if not scrupulously correct. I make an exception for conversationally natural things, and dramatic sentence fragments.
azurelunatic: "Welcome to the Internet. (Here's your free eyespork.)" Titanium spork. (internet)
These are some of the things that I had been working on, but have now decided that actually I'm not interested in writing the whole thing. Therefore, I'm putting them out here as an exercise in both decluttering (getting my draft file down to something reasonable) and procrastination (not writing what I should be writing), and getting things out of my brain so other things can go in. I am putting them out in public because I am not Denys Nye, and because apparently other people do like to see what goes on in my head.

There are sure to be more later.

azurelunatic: DW: my eloquence cannot be captured in 140 chars (twitter)
In the last 24 hours, I posted the following to Twitter:
  • Saturday, 0120: Up in middle of sleep cycle, reading twitter from phone in bed. Much more insomnia-friendly than book.
  • Saturday, 0122: Just realized that the President is in my 2nd degree thanks to having shaken hands with @donttrythis. Mind now blown.
  • Saturday, 0125: Comic book movies work on years of mythology & it shows. Trailers for Green Hornet & Green Lantern = yay.
  • Saturday, 0127: There was also a Yogi Bear trailer (to amusement of audience) & meh, though it does have Justin Timberlake. Cannot believe I just said that.
  • Saturday, 0133: @Durandal15873 capslock comm fey pointed at. Sand in vagina is too sex-specific and is therefore likely as not used sexistly.
