I ordered a new desk chair off the internet. To my great good fortune, its arrival coincided with work's slow time, so I was home to receive and assemble it. The least pleasant part of assembling an office chair is screwing the hardware to the bottom of the seat, so I was happy to see that the chair had arrived with that already done. Lesson learned for next time: I will put the arms of the chair on before turning the seat upright and sticking it on the gas lift and wheel assembly.
katieastrophe is visiting San Francisco, so we made plans to meet up at Wicked Grounds. She'll be crashing on my couch Saturday night. I've been trying to get all unpacked and tidied to be ready for that, so I've been cleaning up in a somewhat desultory fashion, so as not to make me flail about and scream more than absolutely necessary.
rising is having a delightful all-over-California vacation, and was originally going to visit me in mid-August. He called just as I was emerging from a pre-coffee nap, and schedules were re-juggled. I commenced tidying in earnest.
I showed up at Wicked Grounds in the early evening. Fun commenced, and
katieastrophe met George, my faithful Cr-48. One of her other friends also showed up, and good times were had by all. I happened to have a spare lube/not lube button, which seemed the very thing.
I was slightly apprehensive about the logistics of Saturday night, as this will be three people and two actual beds, but I think we've got it worked out. Then there's to be coffee Sunday morning, at a location to be determined.
Between
ursamajor's sleepover the night before I left for the Alaska trip, and all this, suddenly it looks like my apartment is getting social! Slightly unnerving for a hermit!
Tidying is ongoing. I found the missing "bad" phone headset. It was inside a meds baggie, stuck to a cough drop, inside my change purse, under a pair of forget-me-not socks, inside a little glittery plastic box, which I'd pulled out of my luggage and stuck under the side table for some reason. The other one was on top of the same side table, under some papers and things. I am so organized, I swear.
Poor LJ is mostly down, which is really cramping my fic-reading style. I can't close tabs because I haven't been able to leave comments. At least I'm probably not missing stuff on my friends page, on account of hardly anyone being able to get through long enough to post. Get well soon, LJ. You're not my whole world anymore, but I really do like having you there.
