Wednesday hot-swap
Jul. 16th, 2020 02:29 pmWednesday was exceedingly hot. I was out of the house much of the day.
I'd showered Tuesday night, because I knew I'd want to get going quickly in the morning. I woke up somewhat bleary and convinced that the appointment was an hour earlier than it actually was, so I tumbled out of the house in fairly short order, refueled my toaster (why did someone feel the need to pull around me in the gas line, tho), and arrived at the office quite early indeed. I chilled in the car.
I didn't quite register that the need to check temperatures and masks at the door meant that there would be only one door open. Alas.
The appointment was short and ... mostly okay. My GP is an excellent nurse-practitioner who goes on vacation in July. The replacement ( weight, med side effects ). "No," I said, and that was that.
I've been having troubles with my tote bag. Things have been really hard to find in there for some reason lately. Tuesday I couldn't find the number-tag from my place in line at the lab. I should probably appease the relevant entities, and give it a good clean-out and re-arrange. I dropped my keys in there before the appointment, because we don't need my keys clanking on my wrist.
Doc sent me down to the lab to get a urine sample (it was due in September, but okay). There was no wait at the lab. This lab didn't have the domestic abuse intervention procedure that the other lab I usually go to does.
After, I fished around for my keys and wound up having to take a bunch of things out of my bag to find them. I really need to tidy.
I chatted with Nora on the way to pick up the clothes. There was a Sonic nearby, and I made a note of it for the way back. I stopped on the way back; I was thinking about dinner for the household, but thought about the drive back, and only got myself a cherry limeade. I had enough water (thanks to the jug, and the ice packs, and the cooler bag) but it was good.
I got in, and everything was hot and sticky. I flomped in the breeze of the fan and AC. Belovedest got home. Everything was still hot. I eventually pried myself up and went out.
There's a beef with someone, and I'm not sure who it is. I arrived at the Sonic and contemplated the menu for a few minutes. I pushed the button and ordered (I thought I was ordering slightly before that, but it must have been someone else's speaker being loud, but then it was my turn), paid, and kept half an eye on the progress meter on the screen. I saw the dot that said "kitchen" fill in, and the dot for "on the way" start swirling. I looked back at my phone. A little later, I looked back at the screen, and it was back to the new-customer screen.
There are a couple options, and I don't know what happened.
* Someone pushed a button to resolve it by accident.
* Someone pushed a button to resolve it, thinking the carhop was available, but carhop was not.
* Someone pushed a button to resolve it in order to improve stats.
* The system is not set up to realize that wait time for a carhop is a constraint.
* The system is set up to consider wait time for a carhop, but that time is insufficient during peak rush.
* ????
I waited for a while. I got antsy. I set a timer for 5 minutes. When that timer went off with no update or food, I pushed the button to check on my order.
6 minutes later, the carhop emerged, short one drink and flustered. My receipt had been re-printed, and didn't have the original time on it. My records say that I arrived at the venue about 7:45. We'll call it 5 minutes perusing the menu, 5 minutes waiting to order. That's 7:55. My receipt was re-printed at 8:12. So not truly unreasonable, but <voice="Becky"> not what I expected. </voice>
