Cranberry Sauced
Nov. 26th, 2020 10:43 pmI was looking for a festive beverage for the remote Thanksgiving shenanigans, and my eye lit on the bottle of lingonberry syrup from IKEA.
I added various amounts of the following to my cup over the course of the day:
* Lingonberry syrup (sweet enough on its own for me)
* Limoncello
* Triple Sec
(I'm sure it could be done with many different citrus boozes)
* sparkling water
* ice
I contemplated cinnamon of some kind, but I was already doing enough as it was.
It was very tasty and hit the spot for both cranberry flavor and for a booze.
There was a lot of chat with Belovedest's siblings, and some game-playing. I made some fanart of a Twitter thread on terrible lawyering. I didn't get a chance to chat with Ev. I did get more than 500 words written, a noble effort for the day.
Things we made included:
* Turkey (5 hours for a 20 pound bird)
* Smashed potatoes
* bacon on a rack
* asparagus in bacon fat
* biscuits from a can
* cornbread, mostly for cornbread stuffing - next time make a 2 box batch
* cornbread stuffing (next time a 1/2 sausage batch, not 1/4)
* gravy from a jar
* the aforementioned cocktail
* cranberry sauce from a can
We did not get around to breaking out the salads.
Next time, I may flowchart the various recipes and temperatures and dependencies, but nobody was feeling up to anything that involved, and we woke up at a reasonable time instead of a silly time to get the bird buttered and roasting.
Next time, we should shower earlier (like, right after getting the bird in).
Also next time, better cat-proofing if Escape Calico is going to be the loose character. Because she's started poking her li'l noezzzzz into people's plates, and made a good effort after the bacon.
